Shouldn't that be a spelling bee? Or Wasp?Just logged into thread. No - never seen Wasps. I have read the last few posts and think the thread should be renamed 'Grammatical Jousting'. We could have posters enter (as per the prediction league) then have a format like a cup knockout.
but they have a stronger hold on the wallets of the city. I wish that wasn't so.The fact is that Wasps will never have that place in the hearts of the city that the Sky Blues have. Who will remember the time Wasps finished top of the league but won fuck all?
Wasps are entertainment for the consumerist, all gimmicks and marketing with no soul whatsoever, like the people who watch them.

Yes but like any fad I can't see it lastingbut they have a stronger hold on the wallets of the city. I wish that wasn't so.
My sentiments here word for word.
I have no interest in Wasps and the outrage and hatred thrown at them here about the move is far worse than from Wasps fans themselves or the wider rugby world in general.
The people I know personally who now go to Wasps used to go to both Northampton and leicester.
They just enjoy top level rugby and I would guess would switch alligence again if it suited them.
Our hatred for them is because of how it affects us as Cov fans more so than the shitty fact you are allowed to franchise in Rugby.
Also like Calista personally wouldn’t have an issue of some kind of partnership of convenience with Wasps and see it as one of the few sensible ways forward, can’t see happening whilst SISU are around.
Just my opinion and like Calista I have expressed it many times before and given up due to the shouting down, wum accusations and plant suggestions.
He's an idiot, I know you're better than responding to the complete fuckwitAs I have answered to you before you are talking about floating fans of Rugby, not club fans. You are naive if you think their isnt the tribalism in Rugby like football, and ignorant if you believe otherwise. I know no Saints fans who would go to watch Wasps even if it was right on their doorstep, the same with my mates who are Tigers fans. It just doesn't happen. They are one club fans and not some johnny come lately who just wants to see top class rugby, the fans you mention are a minority.
As for a partnership with Wasps, why after such a disastrous period under the stewardship of our worst owners ever, would you be willing to jump from one shit hedge fund to another, whether in ownership or partnership? I wouldnt. Thanks but no thanks.

I just couldn't let it go.
Thats a big problem for Wasps. It means those fans have little in the way of loyalty and certainly won't be turning up every week if Wasps can't sustain success on the pitch. That will push them to spend on players to maintain that position even though they are running at a loss.A work colleague who lives in Hinckley used to take the family to Leicester each home game for the last 4 years. Now takes them to Wasps.
A second work colleague who lives in Rugby went to Saints for last 6 years now goes to Wasps.

Exactly, look how our crowds have dropped off when people have decades of supporting the club behind them and possibly generations of family members. If that happens to us what happens to a club who have been here for a few years if they start going downhill.Just like CCFC have been in decline for the last 20 years

Sorry Moff when you say it dies to happen I could introduce you to two tomorrow. A work colleague who lives in Hinckley used to take the family to Leicester each home game for the last 4 years. Now takes them to Wasps.
A second work colleague who lives in Rugby went to Saints for last 6 years now goes to Wasps.
I don’t really give a damn about Rugby and agree that you know more than me.
However these two would have classed themselves as ‘club’ fans now they go to Wasps. I can only really die sk about these two.
Then I know a lot more people who never went to Rugby who now take their families to Wasps. 3 that I play football with. 2 that I work with they are definitely what you call floater fans no alligence will go anywhere for a good family day out. It seems according to them Wasps provide that, they were raving about some firework display the other day.
They went first time in free tickets their kids loved it and now they pay.
Regarding the partnership it could happen under our current owners.
Wasps moved which is shocking but actually putting on a show, marketing and developing a winning product on the pitch. They don’t seem too shoddy at that.
It just makes sense to share things such as the Ricoh, marketing, shop, ticket office, physio’s, functions ground staff training facilities, sports scientists ect.
Fair enough Dongo, we agree to disagree on some points, but we obviously know people who have taken different stances re their support of Rugby teams, and I respect that you know people who have reacted differently to those that I know.
Re Wasps and CCFC I can understand what you are saying but I still wouldn't want them near the club, as I dont want SISU near the club, and think we will be glad to be rid of both (in a perfect world)
I like the way we can always rely on Grendel to pour oil on troubled waters...Why waste your breathe on the attention seeking lunatic?
He's right about that utter bullshit merchant attention seeker dongoI like the way we can always rely on Grendel to pour oil on troubled waters...
Just to clarify, when I mentioned a future partnership I was talking longer term, and not necessarily about getting into bed with the current Wasps owners. Like everyone else, I’d love to see both of the hedge funds out of the picture.
The way I see it, you’ve got 3 businesses - a sleeping giant (?!) football club; a top flight rugby club; and a fine modern stadium complex. All of them are financially dodgy, and to me the Ricoh doesn’t look viable with only one of the clubs. But the potential is there in this city. So one day (not any time soon I fear) surely it will all have to be brought together in a better way? If that comes about, I've got no hang-ups about sharing facilities with another sport. But it probably involves a lot of money being written off somewhere along the road.
The fact is that Wasps will never have that place in the hearts of the city that the Sky Blues have. Who will remember the time Wasps finished top of the league but won fuck all?

I honestly don't think that Sky Blues have that place in their hearts of the City of Coventry. Most of the people here don't give a fuck sadly.
Fair enough, I understand the feeling, but I don't think wishing them away is going to get us anywhere.Sorry ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ , just get rid of them and that insect

Not cheap at the City ether and they don't look after the kids as well as any Rugby club. The first group I mentioned will turn up everyweek.Unless a top flight team moves to the end of their road.
The last group will only turn up as long as it’s a good family day out. Wasps have to maintain that and apparently it’s not cheap to take a full family
So how do you explain, fans going to Coventry and Wasps, Coventry and Northampton, Coventry and Leicester. Coventry Supporters Club has a deal for cheaper admission at Broad street. Moseley fans I was with the other Saturday v Co v said if we get promoted and Moseley are away they would be open to coming across to the Butts. Rugby fans are far more relaxed about just going to see a game of rugby.
Exactly that is why we are in the shit.I honestly don't think that Sky Blues have that place in their hearts of the City of Coventry. Most of the people here don't give a fuck sadly.
The saints mates I have go to Saints only, as do the ones supporting Tigers, if that's ok with you. The ones I know would not go to see a rival team in the same league. Easy enough for you to comprehend?
Well I know fans who go and watch Coventry and Saints if that's ok with you? My neighbour and his mates being one group.
Well done. We know different people.
Never, not different people surely. Loads of people I know have been to Coventry Rugby and Wasps in the last 18 months. I also know people who fluctuate between Coventry and Old Coventrians, Coventry and Broadstreet, Coventry and Barkers.
When Coventry played Plymouth, that's top v third, I asked someone who regularly goes to watch Coventry "Did you go on Saturday?" Answer "No I went to my old club Old Covents."
There are distinct differences between how football fans and Rugby fans follow clubs and their sport.
Having supported Wasps originally in Sudbury, then Loftus Road, then at Adams Park which was great as I live in Wycombe, the move to Coventry was not welcomed unilaterally in my household. It's a great stadium, but the price for seeing my team play there is that it takes nearly all of Sunday including travelling, compared with 3 hours previously. But I'd rather give up that time and see them thrive, rather that live from hand to mouth as tenants of a football club.
But the sad reality for CCFC fans, despite the frustration, anger, bile (and some bad grammar) on this thread is that the people of Coventry are voting with their feet - around 17,000 average home attendances for Wasps, compared with 7,500 for CCFC (both numbers include freebies).
It was the CCFC owners who caused this situation. Wasps simply took advantage of a good business opportunity. End of.
