I would have NOTHING to do with a new club. SKY BLUES FOREVER - PUSB!
Jack, this has got to be a contingency plan. Bottom of our hearts we want CCFC playing at the Ricoh and finally Sisu to go.
But if that doesn't happen a new Coventry City FC playing at the Ricoh has to be a plan. US, the fans, will know we are the true CCFC, whatever name we may choose.
Ideal scenario is, we get placed in Conference North/South or at worst, the league below. No debt, owned by us, at a superb ground. NO SISU. What heaven. With crowds between 6,000-10,000 we'll be well placed to get promotions and be back up where we are in 3 seasons. Viable, with fans who get to enjoy their team again. People will soon jump on the train.
And, it sends out the message to Sisu, WE are CCFC, not you and the 500 who go to Sixfields will soon realise what they've done. A team playing here would kill off this Northampton debacle. We could reclaim our history, just as Wimbledon did.
I stress, this is a contingency plan. But we must have it. Not ideal, I realise. But fans acting together will force the issue. I don't think us fans realise how much power we have working together.
Norman Wisdom said this....."If CCFC do vanish, that's the time."
At what point do we say, Northampton Cobblers are dead? August 11th? Next January, end of this coming season? By then it'll be too late for 2014/15.
Mark82, think Midland Alliance is a bit pessimistic. Chester are a good example. Far smaller club of course. They got fast tracked. Only demoted three divisions. & now back in Conference.
If we can show we've got a big fanbase. Say 5,000 season tickets, it'll quickly become clear we can't be placed in a league that wouldn't be able to cope with that level of support. Say 1,000 away fans, for example.
Don't get me wrong, this is just an alternative strategy, if it becomes clear we're stuck with Northampton. Nothing I want more than playing at the Ricoh. My season ticket bit of plastic is waiting to be swiped!
Norman, Brighton left the Goldstone in 1997, they opened at the Amex in 2011. To me that's a decade. In any language it's a long time.

In this country, clubs come back or die, it's an inarguable fact.
Norman, for all intents and purposes, once City kick off in Northampton, the club will cease to exist. .
Yes, Brighton played at the Withdean - a run down athletic stadium. With crowds of 5,000. They play now at a proper football stadium in front of 25,000 + - what does that tell you?
You're not listening Norman. It will. Football is all about emotions. I see where exactly where you stand now.
Do you live in the north? If so you are so totally out of touch with local feeling.
Ah, I see now. I must be slow, but then I'm prepared to listen to anyone. But you happily go along with this evil Sisu idea.
OK. We're done. I see you for what you are.
Norman, for all intents and purposes, once City kick off in Northampton, the club will cease to exist. Have you not been the countless posts on the subject. And that's besides the silent majority who don't come on this site, they'll vote with their feet. CCFC will cease to exist. It'll happen almost overnight.
Waiting and waiting - as you advocate - will be a slow death.

I'm afraid I can't wait while my club dies in front of me. I live in Coventry. I'm passionate about my team. You seem half hearted, ready to toe the line. Wait, wait, wait, wait....for what. Us fans ARE the club. Ultimately we'll decide.
you may well be right but good percentage of our support is from surrounding areas & could they support a new ccfc. If original ccfc moved back with new owners thats my club along with plenty if others, not 1 built on knee-jerk reactions, anger & hatred. Why would someone from say nuneaton or leamington support a new club when there home town club are doing fine. Dont think i could support new ccfc & my team BedworthNorman Wisdom said this....."If CCFC do vanish, that's the time."

SBH...by that time, if it ever happens, the new CCFC (playing in Coventry in front of passionate fans) will have got promotions and the Northampton lot, (playing in front of 500 selfish idiots), will have been relegated and will be in dire straits - if not ceased to exist. We'll overtake them on the way up. We'll take back our rightful history. It's ours. Not some faceless hedge fund.
& I believe because we'll have thousands willing to support such a reborn club, the FA will fast track us. We'll be in the Conference North maybe.
Like everyone I hope we are playing at the Ricoh this season, though I hate the thought of Sisu still owning us. But at least the fans will have won round one. We can work on getting rid of them afterwards. I still cling to that.
But we've got to have an alternative strategy. & I believe more and more people are coming around to the idea of a reborn City. It's a Plan B.
If we can play this reborn club at the Ricoh, how good would that be.
Option 1 = SISU stop fucking about with OUR club and at least return to the Ricoh and in an ideal world disappear back where they crawled from.
Option 2 = Plans will already be in place to bring Coventry United into the Ricoh and cut SISU United loose without a fan base.
you have some fans writing the club off entirely, some who bizarrely are buying season tickets and others like myself who will just refuse to go but only until the club returns. You will only get full support for a new club until the current one goes totally out of existence or permanently stays in Northampton. Starting a protest club is folly.
