Thanks to Oli at Statsbomb this is probably the best indication of where we at.

Compares XG to XG conceded.

We not scoring loads but conceded very few chances. Like the George Graham arsenal 1-0 side of the past.

Don’t mind winning every single game 1-0 tbh.

Interesting to Compare this to Peteboro who suffered a drop in form and they paying the price in the run up.

Oli at Statsbomb also done a quite a good League 1 promotion article here https://statsbomb.com/2020/02/unpacking-the-league-one-promotion-race/

Interesting article, especially on Rotherham style and possibly why we conceded what we thought were basic defensive mistakes at their place but actually caused by their pressing style

I was at that game.

Literally pressed us, battered us and then pummelled us into submission with crosses and their physical play. (Most of their players well over 6 foot!).

Big big difference and similar to 1st Pompey game and return is our formation.

For both our 1st games against Millers and Pompey we played 442 and just couldn’t cope with aerial bombardment.

Massive difference with 3 (or. 5) at the back-easily coped with Pompey’s shyte hoof ball.

It also means we have more players to move ball around at the back-I do worry about Rickets McFads as he not the best with ball at his feet. (As exposed in 1st Millers game)

I do feel Robins will stick with unchanged team. We have plenty of ball players happy to receive the ball in tight areas.

We hopefully have worked on breaking the press and done our homework on being cute when physically challenged (in first game-often before ball arrived to the player!). Having Walsh is a massive plus as against Pompey he didn’t shirk the physicality and gave it back.

I’ll be very happy with a draw but I feel we have the goods to dish Rotherham a good beating.

I don't think you can contribute their press to all the goals.
The first was just basics that we got badly wrong.
