Found it, you said £350k. I assume £150k was just the commissioning cost.
Wow how did you find it. Well I’ve emailed George and Abdul to ask who we’d talk to and I’m meeting joe in a week or two to see how we start something like this off. Not sure I’ve got the ability or time or passion but they deserve it so I’m gonna try

Obviously the first thing would be to check the families would be ok with it

If we owned the ground we could name stands I’d love there to be a john Sillett. George Curtis Steve ogrizovic and a Clarrie bourbon stand next year

Do we think this is something we could all get behind and raise money and get agreement from the council to have it somewhere in the city??
I think the Council would be more interested in contributing to a large wasp ornament than anything to do with the Sky Blues

Couldn’t give a fuck who he’s pissed off TBH, the club is bigger than a few personalities and he’s a massive part of the history of the club.

Statues for George and John, Oggy, and Robins I say!
100%so start fundraising guys

I'd always assumed George dropped off the radar due to ill health, would be sad if he was frozen out of the club in his final years.

Having said that any ill feeling should surely fall away now the guy is dead. Would anyone at the club / council seriously block fan efforts to celebrate those who played an important role in our history.

The issue of where these things should go is never easy. The obvious answer is the stadium but not owning it presents potential problems although it would be hard for Wasps to turn down without looking absolute dicks. Highfield Road would be another option but is a bit out the way where nobody would ever see it. If not at the ground then the city centre somewhere has to be the best option, or maybe by the old council house as that was where thousands gathered to see the cup team.

It's utter rubbish he wasn't frozen out at all.

Surely the location would need to be agreed before any fundraising or commissiong

George Curtis is the most deserving of all for a statue his record here will stand for ever, player from 16, captain in all four divisions onto the administration after his career starting with the Sky Blue pools which earned us a lot of dosh, came in with John Sillett and was actually manager of the cup-final winning team then MD in tough times financially for the club

Unfortunately they would end up being the John Sillett Pepperami stand, The George Curtis Binley Mega Chippy stand, The Steve Ogrizovic Kleenex Stand and the Clarrie Bourton Selco Builders warehouse stand.

Can't believe that the club would have frozen George Curtis out I know the late 80s early 90s he was running the sky blue pool office with Pauline back then I was in there at lot at the time and he was brilliant with everybody.
