Of course they are entitled to sell to whoever they wish. But that wasn't being questioned. It was being asserted that CCFC made no attempt to purchase which is simply false. They submitted a bid and it was rejected while Wasps bid was accepted.
Err thought you didn't believe anything that came from the CET.
It came from the person who was in charge of it personally years ago rather than some spun up tat you get nowDecent bloke as well.
I'd say it's more reliable than a guess from somebody who didn't even use it though, wouldn't you?
I didn't have to use the site to see what was going on, and good friends of mine that used the site said it was ruled by a hardcore 6-7 posters who seemed at the end to be the only users.
What are you rabbiting on about? Follow through what happened. Nobody, as far as I'm aware, is disputing that talks were taking place and Wasps walked away saying they would not engage in further talks with the club.Think you need to read posts #289 and #292.... And a straight reply to your post......Nothing in that article that I can see backs up what you've posted.
But then the MP insisted Wasps had been contacted.Conservative MP Chris Heaton-Harris was appointed by the government’s sports Minister Tracey Crouch in March to mediate in the Coventry City fiasco.
Ms Crouch pledged to assist with mediation following a parliamentary debate into the situation at CCFC secured by Coventry MP Jim Cunningham. That debate was organised as a result of the Telegraph writing to all the parties with the potential to resolve the situation in Autumn last year, enquiring about the possibility of third party mediation in a bid to prevent the Sky Blues leaving the city again.
But Mr Eastwood said the club had not yet been invited to take part in mediation.
He said: “All we know about that is what we’ve read in the public space. We haven’t been approached by anyone.”
Eastwood was forced to admit his 'mistake' but still wouldn't agree to the talks. The man tasked with mediating in the Coventry City fiasco says he has attempted to contact Wasps - despite the rugby club’s incoming chief executive insisting no contact had been made.
Nick Eastwood, who has been Wasps vice chairman since quitting the CEO role in 2015, will take over from the man who replaced him, David Armstrong, in June.
Mr Eastwood told the Telegraph “We haven’t been approached by anyone” when asked last week if Wasps were willing to be involved in mediation being led by Conservative MP Chris Heaton-Harris.
But the Tory MP insists he had reached out to Wasps and had not received a reply.
A spokesman for the Conservative Party said: “He wrote to Wasps, believes the CEO and chairman, and never got a response back.
“He is happy to get in touch again / discuss issues.”
The quote from your article you linked is that they will not attend talks as requested.“In light of Mr Heaton-Morris saying that he has contacted Wasps, I have double-checked internally and an introductory letter was sent to our group CEO.
“It was not a letter I had sight of in my previous role as deputy chairman – hence my reply. A response was sent by our current group CEO to Mr Heaton-Morris, but no correspondence has since been received that we know of.”
Coventry City’s deal to play at the Ricoh Arena expires at the end of next season.
Elaborating on whether or not Wasps would be willing to take part in mediation as the club looks to secure a long term home, Mr Eastwood said: “Our position remains the same – we would like Coventry City to remain at the Ricoh Arena and are willing to listen if they do make an approach to discuss options.
“That is not, as far as we are concerned, an issue which requires mediation as we are open to an approach.”
And what were those conditions? If you check I'll think you'll find what you're referring to as conditions were all projects in line with Higgs stated objectives at the time. Must just be a coincidence that right after the bid Higgs completely changed their objectives. And as I've already said to you. SISU bid came with conditions... Wasps bid didn't.
Why do I? easy enough to come to the conclusion that "Hardcore posters" ruled the roost and all others that made posts, were being bullied into their way of thinking.Well yes, you do really need to use the site to see what's going on.
All you are doing is making a guess while showing you don't really know.
Why do I? easy enough to come to the conclusion that "Hardcore posters" ruled the roost and all others that made posts, were being bullied into their way of thinking.
Don't need to actually join the site to see this happening.
I think we all know what the "Conditions" were
1. To use the Ricoh Arena as the community hub to deliver various community programmes - a communiversity style approach.
2. To establish a communiversity at The Ricoh based on football, sports, leisure and tourism. The Ricoh could be home to a library, adult learning classes, a Communi-café, ICT suite, a recording studio and, of course, remain available as a conference facility.
3. To develop a multi-partnership with third parties to deliver wide-ranging community work. This will include developing innovative programmes with all front line services including the police, fire services, health services and employment agencies. The aim will be for all those involved to play an active role in improving the lives of all those participating in the programmes.
4. To assist in building links with schools, FE colleges and universities. Special emphasis will be given to under-privileged children and those with disabilities. Football, sports, music and the arts programmes will engage with those groups and individuals most at risk of social exclusion.
5. To tackle health and more specifically obesity issues working with the NHS/PCT/Local Council. This will be achieved with a ‘cradle to grave’ ethos and culture in which people of all ages will be given an opportunity to learn how to lead healthier lives.
6. To tackle crime in the local community working with the police and community safety groups by targeting specific areas of anti-social behaviour and juvenile crime. Football and sports projects will be delivered in the most challenging estates and postcodes to the most vulnerable people; to move them away from a life of crime towards more positive and productive activities.
7. To create pathways to employment by developing links with the LEP and local employers. This will be achieved through a “Skills for Life” programme that will be designed to attract the under achieving, under qualified and those not in education employment or training (NEET). Initial engagement would work through sport (particularly football), music and the arts first level courses and programmes.
Amazing you can analyse it all so much off a quick look and then know exact reasons why it closed isn't it?
Is me correcting you "bullying into my way of thinking" because you have guessed at something?
See what I mean? Who said I took "A quick look"? I followed the site for quite a few months(About 6 or 7 months) That was more than enough to see what was going on. Is my, and all my friends opinions not as good as yours then? After all, you know why my friends all stopped using the the site... Or is it you guessing why they stopped using it?
Oh look, here you are moving the goalposts.
Your original comment wasn't why sky blue kids friends stopped using a website, it was why it closed down...
OK.. You tell us all on this forum why the original CT site closed down then.
The one on iccoventry? Again, look at ajs post.
Have to go out now. Looking forward to carrying on this conversation when I return
I don't know what iccoventry is, but the one I'm talking about was hosted on the Telegraph page itself. The admin or top dog mod said it was being dropped because it wasn't worth the hassle. Can't remember too much about the troll, but he was called Nigel something and one of the many usernames was seeyagunnarsson. He was a known entity and made looking after the forum a pointless endeavour.
It wasn't due to the actual Cov fans on there, there were fallings out but no more than you get here.
Didn't there used to be a forum on ccfc.co.uk as well that got pinned as it was too much work to moderate it.
And what were those conditions? If you check I'll think you'll find what you're referring to as conditions were all projects in line with Higgs stated objectives at the time. Must just be a coincidence that right after the bid Higgs completely changed their objectives.
So you have no evidence for your strawman from Germany. So if no councillor lost an election when the council took on the loan then by your logic they were happy they had the loan on their books - yes?
From what I've been told and led to believe the same thing happened on the original CT site too.
The CT forum was given up on as a waste of resource, a lot of it prompted by one person relentlessly trolling the place with dozens of different usernames. I think one or two on here were moderators there?
SISU will have you appearing as their star witness with comments like that! CCC made a £14m loan to a struggling, even if nobody would admit it at the time, ACL who were in dispute with CCFC over unpaid rent on the basis that the rent CCFC weren't paying would cover the repayments! The loan was supposed to be paid off with revenue from the CCFC rent via ACL.
Not one of my better timesYeah I used to be on that. Can't remember my username though. Famed for Vicky and Adrian.
Spot on ajsccfc.
Smithers from the Telegraph rang me when it shut down to confirm this was the case.
Nothing at all like you said.Basically what I said then.
No. Show me a popular protest in any form - whether it be a march, a petition, a demonstration or a candidate at local elections who got a significant vote opposing the Wasps sale. The loan was supposed to be paid off with revenue from the CCFC rent via ACL. That all went haywire and the elected council were no longer happy to have the loan on their books as was shown by their willingness to get rid of it. SISU made a mistake from the word go - yes I know you will use a Trumpism, "from many sides" - but the fact is the mistake that is causing the current problems is that SISU bought CCFC.
The present position is that nothing can happen until JR2 is out of the way. No one is going to budge. Wriggle all you want, but the clock is ticking and we don't have a good hand.
Nothing at all like you said.
