In a season and a situation that I don't need to go into I want to express my absolute delight in the job I believe this man has done. With the limited budget and transfer constraints, the ongoing board troubles and club turmoil, a 10 point deduction from the outset and the fact that in reality we haven't played a home game all season to be where we are in the league now I think is a superb effort from the man.

Of the crap that is going on he is one of the few rays of light that if we do ever get back to where we belong I really do hope he is the one leading us as he does so well right now!

Can't argue with that. With all our problems pre season most of us feared certain relegation but more than likely we will avoid this. Just need new owners now to push on

Yep - a season of games, none at home, and starting with minus 10 - he's performed a minor miracle. Just hope he's armed with a squad capable of competing next year. No Wolves about, so I don't see stand out certainties for promotion. That said, if we get no backing in terms of squad - we could be in for a tough time....................oh, and there is that little matter of the elephant in the room, the JR in June, which could blow everything else out of the water - in a good or bad way!!!

he has done well but has he got the appetite to continue the sale of wilson and a few others in the summer with bargain basement inadequate replacements and offers from elsewhere he may do a robbins

JR, Elvis and Callum. Three key aspects. All go our way and we can be in business. Of course that means Sisu throwing in the towel and leaving.

Don't think Pressley will get any big offers. We've had a bad second half of the season. Still the right man though.

I'm sorry to poop the party but I think Pressley's report card would read 'unfulfilled promise'.

We have an abysmal defence that has never been sorted and a lack of any real quality in the squad other than a small number of 'rough diamonds'. Signings have been mostly poor. If this is the squad Pressley built (and it isn't yet) then we should start worrying.

I don't think he deserves a love-in like the first post on here but I think he has done a reasonable job given difficult circumstances. I don't see any clubs wanting his services as the collapse since January has been severe.

We realistically had one chance of promotion from this league and that was this season - even with the points deduction. The club messed up by selling Clarke but I don't blame Pressley for that. Things will get much worse next season with budgets being slashed again so it will look like a long battle to avoid another relegation.

It has been a season of unfulfilled promise for the team and Pressley. He has done enough to take us forward to next season but I have little confidence that he will stop the rot that infests the club.

I think he made a mistake by telling everyone our chances of the playoffs had gone when they hadn't it had a bad effect on the team in my opinion it backfired on him

He's in a situation where he couldn't lose. If we stay up, are mid table or go up everyone looks at it as a major achievement. If we go down no one would apportion a large amount of blame towards him.

However I feel both him and Macfarlane have done a terrific job no matter what the circumstances are/have been. Their forward thinking and philosophy is by far an upgrade on the management teams you usually get at this level. As much as I want them to stay it'd be interesting to see what they could do in the future with a few quid at their disposal.

Impossible to objectively judge the season on "normal" metrics with the club situation. In my opinion given the demoralising effect of playing at Sixfields, the destabilising effect of the court cases etc and the scraps of finances he had had what has been achieved with so little has been nothing short of amazing.
Commenting on squad quality doesn't seem fair as he has had to take what is available or take huge gambles e.g. Manset, Slager.
He talks a lot of sense, seems hungry and committed and can carry off a waistcoat. Really don't think we could do any better.

But why has he neglected our defence ? the cause of so many adverse results, to me this is puzzling. We have loaned in forwards galore most gone back and midfielders who hardly play, strange.

Especially as he was a defender himself Webster looks like he gives up every time someone goes past him

Yep, I am not as convinced as many and will not be until he can field a really effective back four

But surely budget available plays a strong part ? You can talk tactics, man manage and work on training routines until blue in the face but need to have some quality to work with. That is the fundamental problem at centre back and has been all season

He has recruited 3 full time centre backs. In budget terms in this league seaborne and Webster will certainly be on average wages in this league.

He seems to be adjusting tactics now so the defensive side is more stable.

Its extremely unlikely any serious offers will come in for him as its early days in his managerial career and he's totally unproven.

I'm fully behind Pressley. He hasn't got a lot to work with budget wise, and so any signings are going to be bargain basement on low wages, hence they aren't going to be the best. I'd have Pressley over quite a few managers in this division if everything was equal.

Would be surprised if he is not in a league higher than L1 before CCFC are. Not convinced that Seaborne / Webster would be on average wages either as think both were very much bargain basement purchases

The average wage is very modest so odds are they are. Seabourne was playing in the league above wasn't he?

Still not convinced. "under the circumstances" is too easy to say. Some poor decision making IMHO. Substitutions and loan deals come to mind.
Not sure how much input he has on signings/loans? Is Waggot in charge there?
And I agree that he seemed to write us off from the play offs far too early.
He has been tremendous, we couldn't ask any more from him, has given his all, still wins "most superlatives in a post match interview" award.

Having said all that, can't see anybody doing any better with our squad "under the circumstances"

Confused ! Do you think he has done the best possible "under the circumstances" or that too much is ignored / forgiven under banner of "under the circumstances". Or a bit of both ?

We mustn't forget that this season's points total is achieved without any home advantage influence. Every other team in the league benefits to some degree from playing at home, whereas our "home" games are hardly intimidating for the opposition.

We are still skirting relegation, only 6 points clear and with a likely nil points from our last two fixtures Wolves and super form Sheffield United away things still look decidedly dodgy to me. As I said our defence is woeful, is it the players or the tactics. We are in a position where our fate is in our own hands failure and fingers will definitely be pointed towards the manager.

Last sentence is just a bit of realism. I do think "under the circumstances" is rolled out too often, but I also believe nobody else would have done much better.

He's very good at bringing through the youth if he gets the chance.
He, amazingly for a defender can spot a forward better than a centre back, ie Taylor and Farid .
He has worked under terrible conditions at Falkirk with budget cuts and constantly having top players sold, and yet we have been to 2 national semi finals in 2 seasons.
If we had been allowed to keep a team for a while he would be in with a shout of winning the league, but our chairman keeps punting because we are poor.

Cannot see any way we will strengthen for next season. Downgraded versions of Christie, Moussa, Murphy and Wilson a distinct possibility. Plus the undoubted shit-fest in the courts over the summer and starting another season away will not help in the slightest. I think we have a very difficult season ahead
