First half of the first game of the season, away from home, 0-0 , that will do. Hopefully improve second half.

Haven’t seen Saka do his one trick, absolutely fuming! Hook him at HT 😜

Slightly deflating, that.

No support for Simms, no hint of a press, no control in midfield.

Plenty for Robins to work on here.
I get that it was pre-season, and teams aren't trying as hard, but looks night and day compared to the way we played in pre-season. The speed we moved the ball was brilliant, it's very slow now.

The midfield has let us down terribly. Allen is very poor and Torp is so soft. Eccles and Palmer or Lati have to come in and help us get a foothold.

That was so poor. Too open off the ball, too sloppy on the ball.

Allen has been poor, and too lightweight. We really need Wright on, not because EMC has been bad but we're in a position again when we have not a single player wanting to making a run beyond the striker. EMC, Sakamoto and Rudoni want it so they can turn and run at people. Simms is so isolated. We seem to be not pressing as a team but also not really sitting in a block either.

Getting in at half time 0-0 is the only positive so far today.

Wright and Eccles on for EMC and Allen please

Grow up says the man who after 45 minutes has decided EMC is no better than Tavares and we're not good enough for automatics.

Ok.
Never said the first one. What a surprise putting words in other peoples mouths, although you have form for that in the off topic threads

It’s really just the fact that our midfield is not handling the pressure of their pressing. Need someone to get a foot on it and bring our wide men in. At the minute they are winning it in there and we’re not developing anything as a result.

Not sure what it is but we looked maybe too eager with all the expectation. Torp looks tired? We are not getting on the ball as expected against a weakened Stoke side. Mason-Clarke looks like a league 1 player, not sure why Hadji is not playing, but expect to see him come on now. The whole team look a little tired and need to press. Palmer may be the game changer in this one. We can't just turn up and think we will win.
Expect a different side second half and we run out 2 nil winners.

Too many players not on it today, it isn’t just Jamie Allen by any stretch. That said, if Simms actually shoots on 30 seconds the rest of the game would be pretty different.

Course you didn't.

You'll get a like from Grendel for that though, well done.

Still shit stirring I see

Very lucky to get in at 0-0 and the scoreline is one of the only positives. Too many players not playing at the level they can. Not keeping the ball and getting overrun in midfield. Hopefully robins will get stuck into them and turn this round. At least we have options on the bench!

We really struggled with the press, everyone looking nervous, our press has been half hearted and easily played around, kinda felt like i was watching England again during the KO stages 🤣

Average to poor half. We’ve set up to play a pressing front foot game but then slipped early on into a deep counter attack tactic which has nullified the wingers and isolated Simms.

The midfield has been lost and it needs Eccles if we’re going to stick with this style. Should be 1-0 down. Expect improvement second half.

We have no control in midfield but half of that is down to poor passing, silly fouls (alongside weak reffing), forcing the ball through.

I know we're successful at intricate passes and flicks but if that's not working, why not try switching the play faster than walking pace.

It's still 0-0 and I'm confident we'll get better 2nd half.

You have to credit the opposition for that
