wasn’t great when he came on though, and was weak for their goal

what we need is another midfielder, we’ve said this since the end of last season, in fact since we lost Gus, and yet we still haven’t solved the problem
Eccles was giving up on chases too easily, made some rash decisions on the ball also. He didn’t do much right in his spell either.

Rudoni does look very decent but the team need to avoid trying to put every forward move through him...will get sussed out really quickly by opposing teams.
Midfield needs adding to.Thought Stoke looked pretty good tbh.
As others have mentioned Robins made the changes at the wrong time (unusual tbh),also noticed that Mark Delaney was in the technical area for the period of the game in the 2nd half that we were on top.
Not time to start panicking but I'm sure we're all a bit deflated.

Stoke looked average.

Back on the coach and disappointed with that awful display.
Midfield non existent first half and second half not much better. No creativity and far to many loose sloppy passes. Torpe was terrible and Alan ran around a lot but created nothing. Emc looked far to out his depth and one shot all game says it all

We didn't really lay a glove on them. The first half we were totally overrun. We were a little better in the second half, but the performance overall was poor. Concerns over midfield still not addressed and backline looked suspect. Need to address it in this window. Stoke deserved the win on the balance of play.
Stoke were as bad as us. Two poor teams. First half they were better. Second we were better. Ref told them to stop time wasting 3 times even before they scored.

MR seems to struggle to motivate the team to start with tempo and passion. It happens most games and it's a big problem.
Generally, we are still looking a very soft side for the Championship. We needed an experienced hard assed midfielder determined to not let teams run through us. We got Torp.
I think Sheaf, Eccles and Rudoni are probably the best we can put out.

Stoke look quicker to every ball so far, and that little bit stronger - hopefully they’ll get tired soon

Good save Ollie by the way

Yeah, so much for our Dr Roberts and the fitness coaches, Stoke fitter than us more organised and bullied us.

Ultimately it is only the first game and it is important to remember that and not judge too harshly. However, completely ignoring the result, the performance was way below what I think we were all hoping for. Robins has spoken a lot about the importance of a good start and preparing well for the season, and then when you add onto that the fact that 8/11 of that starting XI were here last season, there really isn’t any excuses for it to be as bad as it was.

Oh well, hopefully we can turn it on against Oxford on Friday night and get the season underway properly, but that 90 minutes certainly felt like a cold bucket of water after such a positive pre-season.

Really poor performance, no positives. Felt just like a continuation of the same limp play from the end of last season.

Torp needs to start playing at a higher intensity. No doubt Allen will get the criticism but Torp was as bad as it gets today.

The subs were unnecessary and took any momentum we had.
Torp should have played more central instead of Allen and it was a lot like games last season to many passes backwards, and the most disappointing thing for me was both wings too slow and no penetration.
