You lost the discussion when you say Lati should play in midfield

Thought he played in midfield last season on occasion. Not saying he's great, but Allen is not much better and possibly worse.

Not sure we can get away with playing 14 players at the same time 😉
I think I had 12 instead of 11 in my lineup (my bad)...the slashes were for alternate options....in any case every extra player helps especially if the ref favours the other team

Allen is a water carrier that will not take us to top 2
Eccles is also not a top 2 midfielder
Torp is not a top 2 midfielder
Palmer is not a top 2 midfielder
Lati standing in is not a top 2 midfielder

If we are serious about challenging right at the top of the league we need far more quility in the middle of the park.

We are not a top 2 contender. Quite where this came from I don't know. We maybe have a bit more quality than last year but with no more strengthening we will finish 8-12th

We were outplayed and out muscled in midfield today. The 3 that started I just don't think work well enough. With our current players I feel it has to be Sheaf, Eccles and Rudoni. Before today i would have thought we had enough in midfield, but we are only an injury or 2 away from performances like today's... not the start we wanted and hopefully if we are truly going for it, will see 1 or 2 more good players brought in.

Sorry I forgot it's not permitted to criticise the world's greatest left back

It was a combination of poor positional play by Allen, Bidwell, Binks and Dovin. Ali played a part in the Stoke goal.

You know I think the whole team was drinking the same Kool Aid as the pundits and thinking they could just show up and get the 3 points. Really hope this is the rocket up the arse they need to wake up and work hard for every point.

MR better watch his back as well or Dr. Roberts/DK may start lining up candidates for the lead coaching job or who knows Delaney/Dempster may get another promotion (not that I want that).

He's already said he's going to watch it back

Just got back. Rubbish first half. Brilliant second until they scored.

Thought Thomas and Allen were disappointing.

How were the SBA today? Don't think anyone mentioned the crowd.
It was a good atmosphere. We were quite high up the back and there was constant singing.

Werder Bremen last week and Stoke today bypassed our midfield at will. Then our backline is under pressure and forced to scramble. Our forward players are also left on an island with no linkup play from back to front that Stoke and Werder showed. These are all warning signs we must heed and need to improve upon.

I agree that top 2 is a stretch but I think we really should be looking to finish better that 8-12th, we finished 9th last year after tailing off quite badly once we got to Wembley, apart from the defence we've strengthened quite well I think.

The CBS gets a really tough crowd as far as getting away from the area is concerned - I genuinely feel it’s one of the best at this level. Stoke is and always has been awful.

As for the game: first half looked as if Robins dropped a completely new system on them before KO. Torp in particular was totally lost for the duration of his game - wouldn’t be the first time though, would it. There were glimpses of Rudoni and Simms connecting, but Sakamoto and EMC gave him nothing.
Definitely game of two halves but I don’t think anyone would’ve complained at a 0-0.

Not too downbeat. Credit is valuable but doesn’t last forever, would expect to see a nasty fire under MR’s arse if we didn’t finish top 6.

Yep. Doesn’t really look like what we spent the summer practicing anyway.
