Robins bears plenty of responsibility for the squad being thin - it was him and the recruitment team who decided to divert all our cash into building a 3ATB-based squad in the summer, which has left us with redundancies and shortfalls now we’ve switched to 433.

This is fan nonsense TBH. He wanted wide forwards in the summer and just didn’t get them and that’s the only position we’re short.

Good TBH. Don’t need short term cash spending. Well get there over the next 3-5 seasons whatever.
Disagree. Take your opportunities when they present themselves. No guarantees in the future.

Obviously not saying we should overspend but we should have added more up front in January.

Going on the inferences of some surprising selections, I’m minded to suggest we are possibly looking at:
Collins
Thomas, Kitching, Binks
Lati, Eccles, Torp, JDS
COH, Palmer
Simms

Not saying that’s what I would go with….. personally I’d stick with 4231 and hope he goes with MVE, Saka and Wright

This is winnable, so 0-2; but as always, happy enough if we get a point

I agree.

We aimed high. We brought in quality players. Could have done with a few more but its more difficult to bring in quality players than space fillers.

Loans? I remember Robins saying how much better it is having our own players over loans that leave at the end of each season.

Its standard fan cope that assumes a bunch of forum dwellers know better than out most successful ever manager.

He has played 433/4231 before at various points, he went after players that can play that system but didn’t get them. He explicitly said in interviews in the summer he wanted those players to allow a different formation. Yet people seriously think it took me and TomRad85 to suggest it halfway through the season and turn us around.

You better believe I'm going to tap that sign every time someone suggests I have no idea what I'm on about though.

Are you sure Robins didn't come on here looking for a plan B? 🤔 😁

That's a little early MMB, are you going up to the Cultural Quarter up Hanley duck and sample half a dozen bacon cheese and brown sauce oatcakes before the match?🤣
I’m meeting an old uni mate who supports Stoke and I had a really nice breakfast in Hanley!

No oatcakes, I went for something a little more bourgeois - Hideaway if anyone is after some good grub.

2 plates of pancakes for £15.

This is pretty much what I’m already saying? We didn’t pursue that many wingers/wide forwards in the summer because we were clearly preparing for a formation that didn’t use them. Now we’re reliant on a formation that does, and we don’t have enough. If the masterplan was always to seamlessly switch formations midway through the season then it’s hard to say we were well prepared for it.

Give it a rest with the Godden shite FFS. He got himself into two good positions to score the other night, that's half the battle. It was the same early season where he missed the chances at Leicester but then went on a run.

It's so tedious that there has to be some scapegoat, especially with a very honest player like him.

Maybe for some, but not me. I hate the scapegoating of players.

Objectively I don’t think he’s contributing enough. Yep, he got into two good positions on Wednesday which is a positive, but I don’t think they were particularly unique. Others would have made similar moves.

I like Godden, his passion for the club was massively evident during the play off push last year especially, and his goal scoring accomplishments are massively under appreciated. But right now, he isn’t doing enough to be selected ahead of Simms or Wright in that CF role.

But if the right players aren’t available at the right price, you either overpay for a short term fix , or wait and build for the future. Big money doesn’t always mean big returns.

I don't think he was referring to posts like yours. It's the posts like I won't bother watching if Godden is playing and worse that he is referring to.

I reckon it’ll be another rotation like team

then a week off and the first 11 next Friday in a massive game, no excuses
If you’re right it seems an odd approach to turn down more likely points and wait to field strong teams in the 50/50 games. Especially with longer gaps between league games.

Not been told the 11 other than

Prepare for meltdown at 2pm 🤷
I think o,hare and Saka will be missing today! He might even use Tavares first half to try and burn out there left backs energy

Nearly time to cut the grass. Not allowed to use machinery between 12 and 2 so people can have dinner in peace. Hopefully get it done within a couple of hours so I can have a laugh at the meltdowns when the team is announced before I settle down for the game.
