Is that him for the season, or just being nursed to full fitness?

Groin injury now apparently. He was virtually ever present last season, almost an entire year he's been on the injury table. Huge loss not having him at the back.

Can't see him playing for us again, hope I'm wrong

When is his contract up?

I can see us offering him a rolling, shorter term deal if our manager (whoever that me be) doesn't want to commit to offering a 12 month contract to a player who has been out for 12 months. Makes sense to keep him contracted whilst giving him the chance to come back to full fitness.

He was playing through with injuries at times last season if I recall correctly, perhaps injections to get him through have taken their toll.

He played a few weeks ago didn't he? Had no reaction but didn't rush him back to the squad. Now he has a groin strain?

Footballers are young, fit individuals and like you and I could run round a park pitch week after week. If they can't then why the hell are they footballers? It begs the question are we just being too cautious over so called injuries? If injuries severe enough to prevent us playing then most of us should never had turned out at the weekends for the pub team. It beggars belief at times.
I know injuries can be aggravated but at times when a player is left out because he picked up a 'knock' I'm inclined to think we have become obsessed with it instead of encouraging the player to get on with it. I played enough games on Saturday and Sunday parks and had the shit licked out of me but I was always fit to go again, I didn't complain I picked up a 'knock'!
It's not the premier league, we are not protecting our multi million pound player.

He came off at half time due to injury?

Sometimes young footballers returning from injury misjudge their capacity to play without picking up another injury and end up getting another one.

Yes - but you do wonder if budget cuts are leading to 'amateurish' decisions re: players fitness
