I'm looking at buying a new car which has been stolen recovered, It's up for about 2 grand less then what it should be due to it being previously stolen,

Just wondering If anybody has any advice or has bought one in the past.

My brother is in the motor trade and when I was considering a similar car and asked him the question he replied "Let me stop you there..." The main things you have to consider is it is never going to be worth anything when you come to sell it, and you may have to fork out to fix unforseen repairs that may not have been picked up when it was recovered. Its a gamble.

Thanks for the reply, it does seem to be a gamble. I'm not too concerned about re-sale value as I plan to run it into the ground. The main concern for me is if it's been thrashed to bits while it was stolen.

If it was stolen once, then it can be stolen again!

They are recorded as Cat d ... So never full value ... If you know about cars can be a good buy .. As lots are stolen with keys nowadays from house break ins.. Not necessarily easy to steal. But like others have said if you know nothing about cars walk away

Walk away.....

otherwise complete & utter insurance fuck-up nightmare will follow.....

What you "save" on the car...will cost you in premiums...

Astra SXi 09 plate, it was up for £3500, got to be worth at least 6k, but it's been sold. :( Wish I rang up as soon as I seen it.

I'm not too fussed about cat D's or C's, as long as they come with an engineers report.
