I eouldnt have minded jones to come on today isntea dof max a d try the leicester counter attack james vardy balll over top for him to run on to
I only worry CB. The three we have are outstanding. Don't think we have adequate cover but neither can we afford it
Williams and Drysdale not bad options as 5th and 6th centre backs either.I only worry CB. The three we have are outstanding. Don't think we have adequate cover but neither can we afford it
Yes, I agreePask looks good enough to cover and then I guess you go back to a back four.
I know we only play one forward, but I still like to bring in a better striker if we can.

I think Pask could fit in quite nicely at CB, even without him, our young players our capable of filling in for a couple of games.
Unless we’re really unlucky, CB is a strong position.
Yes Im hoping Pask could slot in. Although I have not seen him live yet. So reserve judgement till I see him.
Not sure we could afford the drop in quality from what we have now to a Drysdale/Williams is vast at the moment.
I totally forgot Pask played that position. That is a comfort.I think Pask could fit in quite nicely at CB, even without him, our young players our capable of filling in for a couple of games.

I disagree. I think if we had a striker of the quality of McGoldrick, Clarke, Wilson or Armstrong (at the time they played for us) imo we would have won more games this season and would probably be well clear at the top of the table.I actually think I'm coming to the conclusion that the system itself when we attack is more team focused than striker focused overall.
Therefore we could sign anybody with pedigree and it would make little impact on the goals scored from the front man.
Posh have an abundance of forward talent in toney and eisa yet have only scored 4 goals in their last 8 league 1 games.
What I'm getting at is the way the team plays has as much of an impact on the striker return irrespective of whose playing there
Today we created nothing really for a front man to produce anything...

Those players made a lot of goals for themselves out of nothing as well as getting on the end of chances created for them by others.

I agree with you
Even someone like ivan Toney who seems to terrorise defences even when doesnt score
Godden baka and bianou are enough to possibly get us promoted but a better striker would increase our chsnces
Yeah i agree on that. Way we play maybe even a billy sharpe would only get a few chances per gameI mean this is my point tbh.
Wigan athletic won the division in 17/18 and Ivan toney scored 4 In 24 in the league for them...
Will grigg was their top scorer with 19 in 43.
Godden has 9 in 18 which is a similar ratio to grigg.
The style of play often determines a striker return.
Godden is a good striker at this level.
Wed be hard pressed at this stage to do any better really

That said mcgoldrick could grab ball and score on his own. That is 1 thing we miss from striker in a robins formation
I like godden tho and his stats r pretty good. Goals and assists. I have stood up 4 him on here and jave no peoblems withnhim as maib steiker. I expect he will score another 7 or 8 before season is over
I just wouldnt turn down a leon clarke for e.g if he going in jan!

I think they are, the trouble is that we are going to be dropping them into high pressure games. It could obviously do them the world of goodDrysdale & Thompson nearly there.
I can see problems if two out of the three are injured or suspended.

Godden is an average league striker. His 9 goals are bolstered by double hatricks.
He's scored in only 2 of his last 15 games.
No ones saying get rid of him just we're a bit light and if we had a better striker on top of the midfield and defence we have we'd probably be walking the league.

That’s a bit harsh. He had 18 last season, if that’s average how many other teams had an 18 goal striker?Godden is an average league striker. His 9 goals are bolstered by double hatricks.

If you have any other opinion that everything is fucking amazing and there is nothing that can be improved on you, hounded as being negative.

14 in 38 in the league in a really high scoring team that creates loads of chances. That’s a bit harsh. He had 18 last season, if that’s average how many other teams had an 18 goal striker?

I don't understand your logic he has a career ratio of just over a 1 goal in 2 on time played.
That's far better than average
All strikers have games where they score 2 /3 goals here and there so that argument doesn't really work
Of which all bar last season his career was in non league and league 2.
Let compare him with let's say top scorer Ivan Toney
Hes played 25 league games, scored in 13 of them (52%). Maddison takes the pens so hes scored all 15 goals from open play (100%), and therefore he's scored from open play in 13 games (52%).
Goddens played 22 league games and scored in 5 of them (23%), he has 9 league goals, he's scored 3 pens to that's only 6 (66%) from open play, only scoring from open play in 4 games (18%)
The fundamental point I'm making is, if we had a better striker we'd be walking this league. no one saying bomb him out. This whole thread about strength in depth, for me strikers/and goals are still something we're struggling with. I'd happily off load baka and hiwula if we could get bring someone better in.
Are you saying if we had the opportunity to sign someone better you'd turn it down as we don't need them?
