The nerve he showed to step up at wembley and stick that pressure pen away sums him up big future ahead of him

I really think he can add more to his game as regards box to box and goals . Sets a high benchmark for the likes of Burroughs , Howley and Obikwu to aspire too

Making the 3 changes when we did was odd. We were on top and looked like we would get another. I thought 1 change in Godden off for Wright was the right move. 3 changes are usually made when the games not going your way and you need to change it. Fully trust Robins but think that was a mistake.

I know lots on here think a CB is priority but for me we lack depth in central midfield, especially when Eccles is played out of position. Giving Kelly a new deal could turn out to be a bad decision

Today was on Godden, 3 great chances, fucked them all up. Awful

I've been a massive supporter of Godden but I totally agree. I know it must have been hard playing second fiddle to Vik but the argument has always been that even if he isn't contributing massively, if we get one chance you would want him to be the one to take it.

For a while I feel like his finishing has been dropping off. Today proves that. Yes, the substitutions weren't right, and a few players were off, but he missed too many chances and that was the biggest factor. Of course the Simms one about 30 seconds after half time was another golden opportunity we shouldn't forget either, but against teams this level if you don't take your chances you get punished.

I don't think we played bad at all, but I'm pissed off we lost in that way today.

I don't think he had any choice with regard to Hamer and Eccles.

We missed chances, but their keeper made good saves and they got lucky with some last ditch defending.

I think we were guilty of giving some of their attackers too much space and not pressing enough regarding their goals. Da Silva, McFadz, Dutch guy who come on Burnley lad. Both goals could have been defended better. But it is Monday morning debrief stuff. Leicester will be going through similar stuff. It is the first game with a lot of new players who have had little time together. Far more positives than negatives from that performance.

In a defeat fans always put forward theories about the use of subs and they are always right with the benefit of hindsight. But equally their theories are never tested so they could be totally wrong.?

Their keeper made a couple of good saves. But yes he also scuffed a couple. I hope we play you next game Clint van damne so you can show us how - I won't hold my breath.

Watch it again. It came from the their left/ our right. Stretched our midfield then they switched play.
Yeah MVE gave it away with a breakdown of a 1-2 I think and then we were caught out on the break.

Second goal we were terrified of their striker and should have just brought him down on half way but stood off him out of fear. Then sheaf ball followed and goodnight

Eccles has proved again what a top player he is becoming. Individually I like all our midfielders collectively not sure but for me Eccles would be second name on our midfield team sleet after Hamer.
Not quite yet but I can see it happening. Most will disagreee but I feel he is potentially better than Sheaf.

You will be accused of taking part in a witchhunt soon mate

The majority of my posts about him are positive so no witch hunt, was just really disappointed with his finishing yesterday.
I thought he would really benefit from a full, injury free pre season, and he still might but yesterday wasn't good enough.

Subs didn't work but were understandable.

Hamer needed protecting in case of injury. MvE was going to be given time but played too far forward. Wright should have been next to Simms rather than replacing him.

If Hamer really needed to go off, I’d prefer Eccles in there instead of Kelly. If Eccles also had to go off, maybe you could even put Lati in there as he does for his country.

I agree about Eccles, but he looked tired too.

Interesting idea about Binks coming on and Lati moving forward instead.

Someone needed to occupy the space that Sheaf ended up in incase the guy cut in, should have been one of the spare CBs tho.

Yeah it should, I think Sheaf moving toward the ball made one of them move back though. Fine margins on opening day, nothing more than forum fodder really.
