Suitable grounds within 30 miles (1 Viewer)

Just got my response back from the League regards moving of grounds. It was as I suspected, they have to be within 30 minutes MUST be approved by the league, and MUST be a "temporary" measure - i.e must at some point move back to coventry.

Firstly Thanks Mr Pomfret for confirming what I thought. Secondly they will now have to look for grounds with minimum capacity of 5k within 30 miles.

So if we take ricoh as centre of radius, and for ease use a route planner (in miles)

Bescott - 27 miles
Villa - 20.7
Blues - 22.5
Fester - 24.3
Northampton - 34.4

Having said that not sure that now not using Ricoh, will coventry city fc be from Ryton? If it IS, then ......

Northampton - 25.8
Bescott - 36.9 (out of range)
Villa - 30
Blues - 23.2
Fester - 26.8

Might be other 5k+ seater stadia nearby, but not 100% sure.

The obvious choice is the bescott, but do they REALLY want to ground share with a company evicted for non-payment of rent?

What would be the use of signing a contract with sisu - they seem to think they aren't legally binding!

No I still say at the last minute, sisu will be forced to cave, or go away. ACL hold all the cards on this. Not going to go to the wall now, they have the law on their side, and even if they get another club crazy enough to accept a ground share with sisu, if you accept the polling that over 9s% just wont consider coventry city covetry city if it plays elsewhere, they are going to have a following in 3 digits!

They think it's all over, surely it is now!

Is there no way The Butts could be modified in time? Excuse me if this has been discussed before.

I hope it's Northampton rugby club. Got a connection there and he said I could have a corporate seat for free.

As far as I,m concerned no other ground will be suitable for CCFC

As long as the real CCFC Ltd is playing in Coventry that will be fine, hopefully with new owners.

Of course if sisu fc want to start a pheonix club within 30 miles no problem at least they will have a few supporters to take with them

Sounds great for you Grendel.
Sadly its crap for the other 99.9% of sky blue fans.
Spare a thought for the rest of us, whilst eating your prawn sandwich in Northampton.

Is Hednesford within 30 miles as the crow flies? Their ground is certified to FL standards, holds around 6-7,000 I think. Might be a temporary solution until Ricoh row is sorted, not too far to travel.

The butts park would need about £2m revamp, there is also a potential for development on the speedway track for a stadium build

We need to know where they take their 30miles from either covs nearest boundry or city centre.?
My side of the City by Junction 2 of the M6 is 17.2 miles to Fester or if you live in Allesley 15.4 miles to the Blue nose Ground

Hinckley United has an existing capacity of around 4k, they could convert one end to allow a temporary stand (Brighton did this before moving to the AMEX) that could hold around another 5k. The Greene King is a newish stadium and has cover on 3 sides, I know CCFC have been to HUFC and had discussions with them. It has reasonably easy access from Coventry and Warwickshire (M69) and is 11 miles from The Ricoh. They have a lot of land around the ground for parking...I know it's in Festershire...but it's nearer than a lot of other grounds mentioned - and it would give some much needed revenue to a club that is struggling financially at present in the non league rather than give the money to league rivals such as Walsall, Northampton, Birmingham ect...

Absolutely it cannot be a permanent arrangement, but it can be temporary. The only reason why sisu could even consider this is to try and stretch out proceedings; at least they believe it could work.

Having said that, this to me smacks of hardball tactics again from sisu

All stadia must be able to accomodate 5,000 as a minimum

Nuneaton Too Small - 4,314
Hinckley Too small - 4,329

The stadia I mentioned are within the 30 mile radius as

Incidentally there is a ground in coventry, it can hold over 30K AND has a casino. It will be free, as apparently the team that was there is moving!

Sure Hinckley could be used, but NOT right now, as it would need extending, and I'm pretty confident it wouldn't be done in time for the start of the season. Vile I assume would be too expensive, ditto blues.

So only viable alternative is Walsall. But it's all hypothetical, because I cannot believe the League would allow it. Sisu aren't being made homeless theyare CHOOSING to move and refuse to pay rent. I'm pretty sure if they pushed, ACL could argue they are breaching FFP rules on prompt payment of football related debts.

It is just unthinkable that coventry city will not be playing home games in coventry!

PSGM1 ...can you clear something up for me please...your OP say "30 minutes" that seems to get translated into "30 miles", which is it...miles or minutes?

What would qualify the Football League guides as a temporary home, any ideas? Surely plans/planning permission must be in place or evidence or such, SISU couldn't just say to them were moving until we get another one built, honest guv....

Any ground we move to must currently have the facilites in place, I think it would be far too late now to start building any stands even temporay ones surely would need planning permission & dont local councils only decide on these once a month or so.
