I think we need ST and CM more than CB, so think we may be waiting to see who is available for loan. Although the Worrall links would suggest we're after something more permanent there.
I don't disagree that we need better at centre back long term and arguably the same at left back . My point is we have enough cover currently

I think this is another case of being lumbered with a player that we thought was going to be better than he’s so far turned out to be, as is the case with JDS.
I don’t think Kitching has so far been the £4 mil League 1 star that he was expected to be and it’s meant we can’t sign a quality, experienced CB like Worrall or someone similar to bolster our defence, as we’ve already tied up cash in Kitching and Lati.

Kitching was fine for a large chunk of the season. He finished the season poorly as did a lot of the squad .
He seems to be getting burdened and judged on here because of the fee we paid , unfairly in my opinion

Ahh sorry mate, missed your point in that last message. I'm in the same boat as you! CM the priority for me, if we're playing 3 in midfield. Personally think Obikwu is closer to first team than Andrews

I'd love to see Worrall in, the extra experience I think we need at CB. Too many goal-conceding errors there last season.
I think that might be at the expense of a backup RB though, we'd end up with Lati as the RB cover which isnt ideal.

I just don’t think he was that impressive when he did play. The fact we paid £4 mil for him just rubs salt in the wound, so far at least, maybe in time he’ll be amazing but based on last season I feel like we’ve overspent on him.
I would much rather have the experience and quality of Worrall than Kitching at this moment in time.

2 clubs you’d expect to be up there next year are Luton and Burnley. Luton have signed Baptiste on a free from Brentford and Burnley haven’t made any signings yet.

He was more than good enough for a large part of the season

They’ve signed Langstaff and Jensen, no?
Pretty sure they have signed a new GK, Langstaff and made Tanganga permanent
I think Norwich brought a 19 year old defender in aswell, Millwall have brought in Langstaff, Tanganga and a GK, but who'd want to play for Millwall? Shite club that do nothing, Norwich ain't a bad club to play for.

You may all be right, haven’t looked into it as I’m really not bothered who Millwall sign but just for reference I got the previous news off Sky, says it was updated last night at around 9pm, not sure if they’re right or not?

True, sod Millwall they will probably be around midtable anyway and plus another 6 points off then again this year 😂, sooner we announce Dovin and a few more signing is what matters.

We got some good teams to play in preseason I.e Roma so will be a good test against the calibre of their players, probably won't face their strongest 11 but none the less will have a few top class players in that line up, it's refreshing to see us playing good opposition this year.

I think Lati is a decent player. It is not so much that he can play in different positions, but the fact last season he was being chopped and changed from week to week that started to affect his game.

I agree on Kitching and JDS (who particularly frustrated me last season). But I still feel they are both players we haven't necessarily got the best out of yet? I wouldn't give up on either yet, but I do think both need to show improvements this season. With Kitchen it is more about maturity on the pitch and engaging his brain more..

I do understand the criticism Kitching received, his ending to the season, particularly after the red card at Norwich, his level did drop. I have to say though that up until that point I thought he was absolutely excellent. Looked really composed on the ball, his emergency defending was really good and his reading of the game looked sound. Really hope he finds that level again.

When he was playing well he didn't stand out because he was composed and rarely got caught out. A centre back constantly making last ditch tackles isn't necessarily a good sign

Tell you what it’s nice to see a well thought out, balanced argument for a change 🙏🏻

We're all bored and want a signing but there will be work going on. I'm sure we'll sign the required 2/3 first team quality players we need.

He has had one season, no need to write a player off. Shown good signs but lots of room for improvement. He'll improve again this season and become a quality, dependable CB.

In a perfect world, we would have a 4th CB but since we have Lati, I'm happy.

Luton want most of the money they will get for a new ground. Can't see them spending loads

But yeah someone like Carragher only made so many last ditch tackles was because his position was iffy.

I know what you mean but I’m not writing him off, I’m just saying he’s not been as good as the hype and his £4 mil price tag suggests, so far. There’s always time but so far he’s not lived up to the expectation.

I think Kitching has the potential to be a very good defender, lower league prem. With the right coaching. And to be fair looking at training pics I think he's lost a fair bit of weight? So maybe that was part of it.
Just going to comment he looks leaner, perhaps penny dropping for him. Agree Xmas purple patch he was excellent, just dropped off like many.
