I think Obikwu will be a cracking player same as Dausch and Andrews but definitely not ready to play lots of games in this league so a loan would be good for him, I mean look how long it took Simms to get going and Wright so best option is a loan and we bring in a ST to take the burden off Simms and Wright, a CM also plus if we can get a experienced CB in.

In an ideal world I'd like a CB, CM, ST, RB and LB, Burroughs is decent enough but is he good enough to play X amount of games covering MVE so he can get a breather? Will JDS improve massively at LB this season? I hope he does and proves me wrong, I like the lad and want him to do well but last year his performances weren't up to scratch.

I think we’re under selling the options we have. One that interests me is Tavares. His position is CF. He’s been played on the wing. But actually when he gets central he looks like a very natural goal scorer. And let’s not forget we have Simms and then Wright. Godden played no part at all last year in reality.

Played more minutes than Palmer and Sakamoto and only slightly less than Bidwell TBF.

I think he's better served out on loan at this point too but he's an interesting player for sure, maybe it could just click for him all of a sudden like Callum Wilson. Hope so, I'd really like the academy to start producing again.

Loan to a L2 team last season without pulling up any trees but that isn’t uncommon. I’d be keen to see him at a team likely to be towards the top of L2 and see how he does, could always recall him mid-season and give him 5 months at L1 level. Too soon for us, really.

I think obikwu may well be first team this year
Listen to MRs post-Stevenage interview. He heavily implies that Obikwu has improved ‘a level’ and we’ll likely loan him out.

My own opinion is that him being a starter at L1/L2 level is better for him than being 4th choice with us. He’s got that raw attributes to be a good player, it’s about harnessing this.

No rush, we'll definitely get striking back up but it needs to be just that. Someone to come in and develop. Can't see a loan what's the point? Won't be anyone with any reputation as the parent would want guaranteed game time which we can't offer. Other than that we have our own youngsters to develop in Tavares and Obikwu no point in taking in an unknown loan for the sake of it.

I feel like we'll get in a prospect but needs to be the right fit. It'll come

@Perryccfc about time you started being positive mate, getting bored of your negativity

Been out for the majority of today. Are they all definitely confirmed out ?
IF sheaf has another 6-8 week injury genuinely at this point i’d look to cash in.

FWIW i do think he is by far in excess our best player, but every season he picks up 1, usually 2 fairly significant injuries that tend to derail us in some way.

I’d be looking for someone more consistent at this stage

Is a fair comment, always getting 6 week injuries

love sheaf but 15/20?

I’d take it

Sheaf does seem prone to picking up injuries. Do you think these players are out or is it just pointless speculation?

No they haven’t!. Just doom mongering.

sheaf and wright impact injuries

Torp and Rafa come from dog and duck leagues - this level and style of training now will take some getting used too (torp won’t have trained much last season, as we were basically playing sat/tue so will have just played head tennis as per city unseen)

This may have helped robins show king we need more.

We need more signings even without the injuries, for both quality and for when we get injuries, now we’ve got injuries I hope Doug/Robins see that we’re very light of starting quality if Haji, Torp and Sheaf are out.

Simms
Wright
Sakamoto
EMC
Raphael
Obikwu
Tavares

if we had these seven as our options across the front three until Jan, do people think we'd be OK, or be at risk of missing top 6 as a result?
If we’re actually serious about promotion then yes, we absolutely do need a new striker. Not only for rotation but a long term injury to Simms would leave us in serious trouble. If the playoffs isn’t a genuine aim, then we’d probably be able to get by.

Tavares did very well in his cameo against Man Utd but I’d be loaning him out to League one until Jan to see how he gets on playing regular first team football before deciding on whether to release him next summer.

Clubs with top 6 ambition don’t have a policy of untried youngsters as back up

Also Tavares is about the same age as Simms

But surely that’s over his entire time with us. There’s no way he started 25 games as CF for us last year. For me, towards the end of last year he was showing real progress. Comparing his time from yesteryear is misleading. For example Gyokeres at Swansea developed and improved.
I get the feeling one of you is talking about Godden and the other is talking about Tavares
