Can we please stop with the inane Hamer ramblings . Does anyone on here seriously think that we haven't tried to recruit a similar player, honestly?
Hamer was a fantastic talent one who got better and better the longer he was here but also a player who changed his style of play too. He started as a deep lying playmaker but ended up being a box to box dynamic midfielder.
Finding another player to emulate Hamer is going to prove incredibly difficult if not impossible
Let's move on
You’d be furious if robins offered you a massage with a happy ending at your seat tbfNot panicking just yet but if we don't bring in at least a CM I'd be furious
3 windows in and Hamer still not replaced. Yes we don't need a new Hamer or the exact type of player, but point stands we haven't
Ayari, the initial replacement got sent back as he was shit
Torp, we all have High hopes but he's not hit the levels required as of yet
Add on Kelly has gone. Peripheral player yes, but still, a player
Our midfield is crying out for a solid number 6
Ideally want a dominating CB like Joe Worrall aswell
So are we looking for a 6 or not ?Gus Hamer is great but he’s not the only press resistant forward thinking midfielder on the planet.
So are we looking for a 6 or not ?
And I presume you can name some of these players ?
No not at all , simply suggested that finding a like for like replacement isn't as easy as some on here glibly suggest it isI watch Cov City and no one else, are you saying Gus Hamer, currently playing for Championship Sheff Utd is a unique footballer across the world?
Yes we haven’t replaced him.Replaced Kelly?

A player has left. We haven’t replaced him - clearly an upgrade on the Kelly that left, but basic point is we haven’t replaced him.Kelly was a peripheral player who had no business being anywhere near the squad last season - what do you mean replaced him?
Yes, please stop discussing anything Coventry City related on a Coventry City discussion board. It's getting too much. Can we please stop with the inane Hamer ramblings . Does anyone on here seriously think that we haven't tried to recruit a similar player, honestly?

We have 6 players for 3 central midfield spots (Palmer, Rudoni, Torp, Allen, Eccles, Sheaf). Numbers aren't an issue.A player has left. We haven’t replaced him - clearly an upgrade on the Kelly that left, but basic point is we haven’t replaced him.
Palmer, Rudoni and Allen are not conventional centre midfielders. We have 6 players for 3 central midfield spots (Palmer, Rudoni, Torp, Allen, Eccles, Sheaf). Numbers aren't an issue.
Rudoni is and so is Allen?Palmer, Rudoni and Allen are not conventional centre midfielders.

If you think Kasey Palmer is a central midfielder then I'd suggest football isn't the sport for you
Not sure Palmer is a CM option personally and I would say despite the numbers , the quality needs rising up a notch or twoWe have 6 players for 3 central midfield spots (Palmer, Rudoni, Torp, Allen, Eccles, Sheaf). Numbers aren't an issue.
Excluding Palmer who I don’t think has the work rate or defensive ability to play a 8. The issue is we have three who I’d are up to standard the other two however I’m not sure there up the quality we want. Early days thoWe have 6 players for 3 central midfield spots (Palmer, Rudoni, Torp, Allen, Eccles, Sheaf). Numbers aren't an issue.
Arguably the most ridiculous comment of the summerWe are being left behind by other teams. Doug needs to get his wallet out. He’s being tight as.
He's spent the best part of £10m plus. Hardly tight! The best owner / chairman we have had in decades. We are being left behind by other teams. Doug needs to get his wallet out. He’s being tight as.
That’s like winning best hair against Jeff bezo’sHe's spent the best part of £10m plus. Hardly tight! The best owner / chairman we have had in decades.
My point is numbers aren't the issue. If you think Kasey Palmer is a central midfielder then I'd suggest football isn't the sport for you
A few tweets out now about Southampton and Ipswich being interested in Sheaf. If Sheaf goes now, I think our playoff hopes go with him. I think Hamer would be a better option for these clubs than Sheaf. Plus he would pass the medical as well unlike Sheaf.
If Sheaf being sold can reliably fund a midfield revamp and more strength at CB and RB, it happensSource appears to be that new podcast that Dawkins is on (not listened yet, but that’s what the Southampton page on X referenced).
Could just be old news as he was loosely linked with Southampton and Ipswich before
He’s now injured and been made club captain so less likely IMO
Absolutly that’s where it’s from. And he said he has no idea how serious any interest is.Source appears to be that new podcast that Dawkins is on (not listened yet, but that’s what the Southampton page on X referenced).

Dawkins said on the podcast that Southampton had contacted us ‘yesterday’ although not sure when the podcast was released. He did also say that Sheaf is out until the international break though soSource appears to be that new podcast that Dawkins is on (not listened yet, but that’s what the Southampton page on X referenced).

I'm not saying there isn't room for improvement (Thomas had a shocker against Stoke). But our defence was 9/24 last season. That was only 4 conceded goals away from 6th. How many were down to GK and midfield errors? I remember at least a couple of times Allen and Dasilva gifting the opposition the ball in the box. Kitchin didn't have a preseason with us. Lati was playing injured. They also think our centre halves are good enough....
People were raising doubts about Wright and Simms first couple of months last season. On that note, I'd like to see Rudoni, EMC, Torp, BTA etc. also given the time to show what they can do before stating that they aren't good enough.
Except 1 of those isn’t a CM, 1 was signed when we were a midtable L1 team and 2 of those are will miss around 10 games a season each.We have 6 players for 3 central midfield spots (Palmer, Rudoni, Torp, Allen, Eccles, Sheaf). Numbers aren't an issue.
