Why would you 'ideally' see Palmer go out? He's getting minutes, so if he goes we'll need a replacement (and I don't think this Norman fella is a replacement for him).

I'd rather sign a CM and move Allen on than a backup 10 to move Palmer out.
Agree to a point. Palmer offers something different especially from the bench so unless silly money is offered I would keep. Looking for abilities to perform at a higher level Allen would be first midfielder out. I would keep though until RB cover is also sorted as if you get a new midfielder, MVE gets injured so Eccles has to cover there, we are getting down to bare bones

Seriously though, I always thought we had some money to spend this summer. It's the season to make a real play, the league is weaker despite some of the crap posted, the owner and the manager see it too.
I didn't see this one coming but looks a great pickup. Expect to see 2 more in more needed positions.

If we don’t go up we will easily make up the shortfall next summer from a minimum of Sheaf, MVE and Simms.

Links not working for some reason but it was a tweet from Obikwu. Text is:

‘Minor setbacks, major comebacks. I will continue to put my faith and trust in God through the difficult times and through the good times but I still believe everything happens for a reason🙏🏾💔
Don't sound good.

This happens to us so many times with youngsters about to go out on loan who then get injured and it just completely stiffles their progress

Mad to think……The summer window where the only permanent transfer we could do was Palmer (for undisclosed £) …… That was just 2 years ago 😳

As stated before just before I lost my info, Palmer and his agent refused to sign a new contract as they have a vastly inflated view of how good Palmer is

Contract was withdrawn

I'm pretty certain he will be sold, this Bassette can play in the 10 if needed as can Rudoni, Torp and EMC.

Palmer doesn't fit here anymore

I know posters think we could make a real go of it this year and I hope we do, but also the kind of signings we’re making don’t seem like short term solutions. So if it doesn’t work out this season, we can still have most of these players here next. The ones that aren’t here anymore won’t be sold for peanuts either.

I’d love us to sign a CDM and a right back but with one week left I think a bigger priority is now not losing one of our key players with little time to replace ……

These signings are fantastic and I'm sure it's all ok, but I sort of would like Doug to reassure everyone that all this money being spent is accounted for and we're not overspending trying to reach the promised land. It probably won't happen, but I would like it to. We've had our fair share of homelessness and financial ruin. No more please.

Agreed. Looks like Kings trying to get the club on sustainable footing so if we don’t get promoted, we have the ability to sell players for decent money to reinvest in the team/squad. SISU started with this model before the financial crisis but soon stopped reinvesting and moved to the ‘let’s distress ACL and pick stadium up for nothing’ model which wasn’t particularly successful

I’m guessing it’s why King wasn’t willing to blow hundreds of thousands/millions on Jan loans on the very outside chance of promotion last season. That’s just gambling

Nothing in his tenure so far has suggested the slightest risk being taken

I just don't see him leaving without a replacement. If this guy is the replacement, then that's fair enough.

Gotta look across how we play

Tend to be 4231 and 433

Out wide we are covered, Tats, Raphael, Haji, EMC

In the 10 (if we play it) we have Rudoni, EMC BTA and this new lad

Palmer isn't on cheap wages and will barely play. And with 1 year left Douglas will be looking at taking a few hundred grand profit on a bloke we signed for nothing

He kind of already has. He has said several times we will be self sustaining and have no real debt.
