I’d take £15 mil with add-ons, I think Sheaf’s great but is he £20+ mil great? Not sure tbh, and if Hamer went for around £15 mil then should Sheaf go for significantly more than that? I think £15 mil for Sheaf is quite fair tbh.
Being English always helps add a few million onto any fee in this country. If he were to go next summer instead with just a year to run on the deal, it'd be more like £10 mill but that's less of an issue with MVE or Simms or both to also cash in, assuming we aren't promoted.

Agree with you there, anyone that’s British or from UK leagues tend to be rated higher than their actual ability in my view (excluding the obvious like Palmer, Eze, Saka etc etc).

It’s the same with this talk about Browne, like yeah he’s decent but is he a great long term prospect that’s going to make the club money in the long run and get us into the prem? I doubt it, but because he plays for a team everyone knows and has seen in the flesh then instantly he’d be an “amazing signing”, there’s absolutely loads of players out there, no need to always stick to the championship and league 1 types.

Nope he replied and said Nixon had said itView attachment 36082

No, no, no, no, no. Hopefully Nixon’s once again gone off the beaten track.

Browne 2.0, don’t need these types, we need to do better than Middlesbrough if we want to beat them, can’t be having 29 year olds that are cast-offs from Middlesbrough. I believe they’ve not offered him a new contract? Can’t be that much of a signing if they’re happy to lose him. Great player for Boro but I want us to be bigger, bolder, better. We have to be if we’re to make it into the prem.

The problem is whether us keeping Sheaf if we get bids will unsettle him. A contractual situation is one thing but how the player feels is another. With Sheaf I don’t think it would be an issue hopefully.

We've lost Fadz and Kelly this year, and if McNair and Browne aren't good enough, who can we get in that adds a experience to the team? We definitely need it. Albrighton maybe??

Not everyone we sign needs to have resale value or be with us a long time, someone like Browne is a what we're lacking badly, has years of experience at this level and would allow players like Sakamoto to flourish as the opposition know they'll get one back with Browne in our side. We're too soft and lack leaders imo.

Paddy mcnair would fit the profile of experience required for me , good with the ball and can play 2 key positions for us .. but I'd imagine his wages are very high

He wont do, stated before he's the model pro, in the Liam Kelly mould. Hence the captaincy

He of course has made no secret of the fact he wants a crack at the prem, and Robins and co are aware. But he also knows his value to us as a club and understands if no one meets it, then he's here to captain us to another tilt at it
Good to see that Robins agreed with me that Sheaf was future captain material.

Obvious he was going to be a class player from the start. Bet half of those insisting we don't sell him for less than £20 million were the same ones calling him shite.

GK
MvE Thomas McNair Bidwell/Dasilva
Sheaf Torp Stamenic
Saka Simms Wright

S: Collins, Lats, Kitching, Bidwell/Dasilva, Eccles, Palmer, Rodriguez, EMC, ST

R: Burroughs, Allen, Tavares, U21s

Plenty of other configurations of the first 20 particularly in midfield where you could put Eccles in for Torp to be more solid or Palmer/Allen in to be more attacking. We’d need to play a kid every now and then still (we tend to use around 26 players a season), but that basic squad would be OK IMO. Maybe a CM/AM in as well at a push of funds are there. Should be fundable with wages saved on Moore/Kelly/Godden/O’Hare and Viks sell on/Dougs good will.

Very true, and I don’t disagree that Browne would bring that ability to the team I just think we can do better, or look at someone with a bit of longevity in them, or at the very least explore options before, as fans, we all settle on the first name that gets hinted at.

I hope so, McNair’s decent but he’s getting on a bit, I know we need experience but I’m convinced of all the players in all the leagues in Europe there’s someone out there with experience, pace, strength and not approaching 30.
I don’t understand what you actually want. We are crying out for some experience but every player suggested is ‘not good enough’. I’ve yet to see you suggest anyone that is ‘good enough’ who we can afford

Well tbh I think I’ve made it quite clear in that previous post and multiple other posts. Why is everyone so in love with relatively older players from teams in the championship? It’s like no one’s considered that there’s probably better talent in leagues like the Swiss league or Dutch league or Spanish league or Swedish league? Why do people fall in love with Irish blokes in the championship that are approaching 30? I’m not saying they’re shit but surely we can consider other players before saying Browne or McNair are perfect for us (I’m not saying you’re saying that but that’s the vibe I get off a lot of fans on here).

Browne and McNair are a proven at championship level. 29 is not old. Fadz as an example improved in his mid thirties.
You want us to gamble on players that have never played in the championship. That’s fine but you need to have a balance.

I just don't see JDS, Bidwell and Burroughs all being with us next season. I honestly think 2 of those 3 will be moved on and 1 starting LB brought in along with a player who can cover LCB and LB slot.

I can see lots of changes with personal, shape and system. Next 2 weeks will give us a real idea of what's being built.
