The big question for Luton is can they hang on to their manager? If he goes, it could disrupt the more than losing any particular players.

They will expect to lose Barkley. Townsend didn’t play many minutes but also might have to drop to the championship anyway. Doughty and Adebayo would be missed. But I reckon quite a few others will stick around. Carlton Morris is a very good striker at Championship level and they’ll have money to rebuild. I’d expect play offs at least for them.

Yeah I really rated him when he was here why are Norwich, a team with similar aspirations to us next season letting him go on a free? I’d take him back especially on a free but I wouldn’t pay over the odds
Seems he is better going forward than defending according to the Norwich forum. Pretty inconsistent and not regarded good enough at Championship level.

McCallum is seen as a potential good addition mainly because he left us for a large fee. Doesn’t mean he’s the answer. I’d prefer Burrows. The lunacy in this one is why we’re seemingly so willing to let Bidwell go.
Unless we are extremely dominant in posession Burrows would be a bad choice at LB to be honest. His defending is suspect at League 1 level to say the least. In a possession dominant team he would be good, but for the counter attacking style which we are best at he wouldnt be.

He's one that all fans of Championship clubs are drooling over but the actual management of the clubs may well not be. Depends if you think you can iron out the weaknesses I suppose.

I'd imagine Peterboro would want a large fee for Burrows, whereas McCallum is on a free and already experienced championship football, that said McCallum would probably want more wage wise

Burrows looks like he has a higher ceiling than McCallum but the latter suits our style of play more.
We've become a bit obsessed with ceilings. Of course clubs like us have to invest in players with potential and a resale value to keep the business model going but if we have genuine ambitions of promotion then we need a balanced squad. Sometimes you need the right players for now, ceiling be damned.

I think that's probably the main reason Giannoulis is going, he's on £30k+ & they're going to need to cut their cloth somewhat.

New Sporting Director, new Manager & a bit of a transition coming I think.
Could see Sara and Sargent going too, hopefully 1 less team in the play off race next year.

He's also unproven in this division unlike McCallum. McCallum was the best left back in the league in our title season at the age of 19.

Is it just me in thinking that again we seem slow out of the blocks in the market? Several other teams have already got some agreements in place with some decent players and we seem to be radio silent. Perhaps its just our style to but alarm bells are ringing that we are going to match our intent with action

He reminds me of Ryan Giles’ form at Middlesborough. Had a storming season with goals and assists but can he consistently deliver those numbers?

We've already made a £4.25m signing. Technically we were quicker than everyone else off the blocks.

Josh Murphy of Oxford is out of contract in the summer. Looked good in the Playoff final.

I mean the season is still technically ongoing - play off final is this week. Players still on holiday.

Just because we haven't heard about it doesn't mean things aren't happening in the background... I'm sure the club have spoken with players already. Robins is notorious for wanting no leaks at all to avoid other clubs knowing what we are doing, be patient :)

Norwich will be back down to a budget more akin to the rest of us in the league without the parachute payments. Revenue will be very similar to ours so there budget will be as well.

The main aim of the parachute payments is so clubs can shed there big contracts over 3 years without having to have a fire sale as soon as they go down.

Bold to think they can get better than McCallum and Giannoullis, especially without the parachute payments. Interested to see who they go for.
I’m sure they have parachute payments for one more year yet.

Relegated in 21/22, means 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25 as year they receive the payments.

Teams only get 2 years of payments if they were relegated after 1 year in the premier league

Ah, that makes sense. I didn't know that. I had read that they had expired for Watford & Norwich but couldn't understand why.

In the article the Norwich chairman said the club wasn't sustainable without PP.

Luton are going to be minted aren’t they? Spent fuck all of their PL money and have two more seasons of parachute payments without a squad that needs them.

If we ever to go up, that's exactly how I hope we would play it.
