Start keeping your eyes and ears open on Duncan McGuire. The striker with Orlando City in MLS is receiving interest from multiple EFL Championship clubs
according to reports from Tom Bogert (The Athletic). It would not surprise me one bit if Coventry is one of those clubs. He checks all the boxes for the type of player profile that Robins always targets.
McGuire had a transfer lined up to Blackburn in the January window, but Blackburn fumbled the paperwork at the last minute. At the time, reports also had interest from Ipswich, Plymouth, and Wednesday.
I said it back in January, but McGuire makes a lot of sense for Coventry as Matty Godden's replacement. Similar profile to Godden's peak as an efficient poacher with clever runs in the box. However, he is also a pretty stout/strong individual that should have no problem fitting into the rough and tumble nature of this league.
My biggest concern is the overperformance of his xG. But, in actually watching him play, you can tell that he sets his body up well and often strikes the ball cleanly.
