I think that's why we haven't made a move for Burrows this window, to the surprise of the Peterborough owner, because we have players there who would be hard to shift. Goalkeeper on the other hand I think we would accept a nominal fee for Wilson, and somebody would take him up.
I suspect they want too much for Burrows. Their owner said several Championship teams were interested but surprised Coventry didn't put in a bid. I would guess they are asking 4 to 5 million even though he has only one year on his contract. He was League 1 player of the season.

MacAnthony is basically a massive blagger but with a half decent scouting team. He has decent players but I wouldn’t believe a word he utters. Get a back up forward and a keeper in and we’re good to go. No hurry.

He reminds me of Mortimer before he went to the Villa and we know how that turned out.
Mortimer was slightly before my time, but I would suggest similar quality wise to Andy Blair who was also underestimated for a long time as a youth product.

Yep with ya. This is the key for me. Money obviously there given Stamenic - praying we are still trying to go for it on this position.

noises around Vik starting up again which would really help!
Hamer needs to piss off too. Surely his agent must be busy trying to get him out of that circus.

Mortimer in his early years with us could not hit a shot on target. He was a danger to fans in the Spion Kop. Blair, I agree was a class footballer but never quite reached the heights of Mortimer, who just got better and better.

Just seen Callum Chambers been released from Villa. Would if it’s one we could be interested in as an experienced CB. Also offering RB cover. Apparently off to Cardiff but surely we offer increased wages?

I think we have more chance of money from Gus than Vik. Gus's stats are good, although they want £25 million for him.
Would you pay 100 million euros for a player who like Vik who has just had an operation? Unlikely.

He’s just had clean out - not reconstructive surgery.

Vik has to move now, he’s at peak of power and earning potential with this contract.

huge risk to stay.

Point of order, age ≠ experience.

Sheaf, Eccles, Rudoni, Kitching are all now experienced Championship player. Bidwell is the only one who is older and experienced.

Leadership wise, it doesn’t have to equate to loud, extravert type who will scream at team mates. Leaders can also do so by example. I’ve mentioned before Eccles shows some great leadership skills. Think Keane compared to Beckham. Kitching has also Captained before, as has Lati and obviously Sheaf.

Players will step this year.

Good post and for me the real issue we had last year especially with our start to the season was in the main the players were new to the league and not played together as a team.

Last year:

Collins
Thomas
Kitching
JDS
MVE
Tatsu
Wright
Simms

That’s a lot of players to integrate.

This season is different. They know each other and how everyone plays and they know the league. We’re adding a bit more quality which makes this season very exciting.

There’s no excuse for not having an explosive start to the season.

2-3 times in the video yesterday, Sheaf was talking alone with MR. Clearly MR rates him as an experienced player and our captain. Great to see

One thing I noticed about Sheaf is how he looks like the main man now. Even physically he looks like he’s bulked up. He’s going to tear the league apart this year.

Be nice if he could get a shot on target now and then

I still believe that the evaluation of Burroughs, Obikwu, Andrews, Howley, Dausch and Rodriguez is very much in play. And will play a part in directions we go within the transfer market going forward thus summer. If any of those are deemed good enough now to impact 1st team squads then our targets will change. And Over the next few weeks we will see the squad shaping up as im sure Robins wants a very competitive group of 20 or so quality players pushing each other to start each week.

Will that number include any of the names i mentioned, i hope so. And if that happens its a great sign we have good young players within. I liked what i seen from Burroughs and Obikwu and think they could be given 1st team opportunities this season. But for me, Rodriguez is the interesting one, Robins seemed excited about him and hardly played it down or tamper down expectations with his comments. From the videos he seems to be a confident sort of lad that acts like he belongs at the level, could he be another gem we found?

Be really interesting in who makes the trip to Spain, that could give us some massive indicators on how the squad is shaping up and who is deemed to be in 1st team plans. My eyes will be on that as i don't think Robins will be dragging players in to make up numbers this time.
