What? I’m not saying that at all, I think Thomas is absolutely brilliant, I’m saying that under £2 mil and it seems like it’s difficult to sign quality players, Sakamoto being the only outlier in the above list. I’m just saying £2 mil and above seems like a decent average price if we’re estimating how much a solid player costs these days.
Hamer and Gyokeres?

You were prepared to spend up to £11M , beyond dispute. Very calmly that's not nitpicking it's just stating fact. Goalposts are supposed to be fixed not moved around .

No one’s moving goalposts around, I simply picked the number between 6 and 11 which is 8.5 and rounded it down, it’s too specific going around saying £8.5 mil when all of this is completely speculative.

I believe £11 mil for 3 players would get us some real quality but I realise that we don’t have that without Doug investing a substantial amount of his own cash, hence why I said £6-11 mil. We clearly have £4.5 mil available as we were going to spend that on Stamenic so an extra couple of mil on a ST and/or CB would be very plausible.

It feels like it’s been weeks and weeks of us talking about these estimated figures that I dreamt up. If you don’t agree then that’s sound, but it’s weird to keep challenging me on such minute and unimportant point. We’re literally both wasting our own existence by going over and over this.

Hamer and Gyokeres?

I think someone else mentioned them tbf but I would say that they were massive outliers, to get such amazing quality players both at the same time for such a good price and for them to both turn into prem players is quite extraordinary.

Btw, and I’m not saying you’re saying this, but I wasn’t trying to come up with some sort of “rule” when I said £2m is what quality costs in the championship, I just mean that I feel that’s roughly the minimum price for a player that’s very likely to offer quality at this level. I was just trying to mentally estimate what a decent ST or CM would cost us if we bought one.

I give in and wholeheartedly agree with you.

Thank you, thank you 😉😂
Joking aside, I’m not trying to win arguments (I’d rather people didn’t argue all the time tbh) I just genuinely think we need better quality depth if we’re to get promoted, how we go about that I’m not arsed but I’d always prefer to purchase players if possible.

I suspect much will depend on relative fitness of the four of them but I tend to agree given the amount we paid for him and how desperate we were to sign him EMC will start.

I have seen you and others say you expect him to be a star and soon to be playing in the Premier League. I have only seen fairly limited bits of his play on TV, but just wonder why if he is so outstanding he has never played above League 1 when he will be 25 by the start of the season? Before TomRad starts accusing me of being negative this is a genuine question not a criticism of EMC. I just wonder why people are so sure he will make the step up so comparatively late?

Well, he came through the academy at Barnet, so hasn’t gone through the conventional route with that ‘Premiership pedigree’.

He’s dragged himself up the leagues and since he’s got to Peterborough, been a stand out player for them! I’m pretty sure Toney had a similar journey from Peterborough and was successful at Brentford in the Championship and Prem.

I genuinely believe EMC will be one of our best players this season. Happy for any posters to keep the receipts on this.

I've stated much the same. For me he is one of the most exciting players we've signed in years , if fans were excited by Sakamoto then this guy will wow you

Any more news on Mitchy Ntelo?

It’s coming up to eight weeks since we were first linked with him and it’s all gone very quiet, not that there was much noise to begin with.

I need someone like Saddlebrains to give me some hope that it might actually happen, even if it’s just made up 😆

I’m not reading all of that. I’m pleased for you though, or I’m sorry that happened

It's mental how water tight the club has literally got. All good btw on that front also.

Literally nothing flying about.

It’s not that. It’s more that robins is happy with the squad. loan or 2 for cover.

nothing to do with water tight

So we are going into the season with just Simms upfront then?

the gaffer wanted all his business done before this weekend. the striker we wanted didnt materialise. I would guess a loan as cover. I dont envisage much more to happen unless Hamer or Vik goes
