I don't think Collins or Lati were brought in as starters and I don't like that they are judged by that mark. Both were fine acquisitions for back up roles. I think Robins did see Dasilva as first choice left back so that hasn't really worked out yet but there is still time and I'm 'one of those' who really rates Bidwell so personally I'm not concerned.

Kitching - like others here I was fine with him for the bulk of last season and am happy to overlook the iffy patch at the end of the season... which let's be honest wasn't just him. I do fear for him a bit that he might lose his place to Binks which might leave him looking a flop but generally speaking the recruitment last season was great. The big buys Simms and Wright have performed and MvE and Sakamoto look excellent business.
It's pretty clear Collins was bought in as a first team keeper. Whatever, he isn't a 'fine acquisition'.
Saka wasn't a 'big buy'. He seems to have been a rather spontaneous piece of luck.
As I said this year the players brought in have looked excellent.

I didn't say Saka was a 'big buy' I said he was excellent business. Are you an Oxford comma guy? Not really buying the 'luck' angle - for me if we are looking at value on the pitch he is arguably the best bit of business we have done.

I think it's pretty clear that Collins wasn't brought in as no.1 at least not short term. I've been into why at some length in other threads but the crux of it is that in a season where you have money to spend you don't replace the championship golden glove winner with some guy who is sitting on the bench at Barnsley in league one.

Lati and Collins were both relatively cheap buys, we needed numbers, I've no real issue with either of them.

If we get BTA over the line, then from preseason it is clear the RB position could do with another player to allow rotation and after that another CB and CM

It looks as if some WBA fans are unhappy at the club selling BT-A:

He has also played on the wing, so we have plenty of cover for those positions 😊

I don't know why some see him as an out and out striker? He is not. He is more AM wide player who can play as striker mainly down to his pace. WBA often left him up front alone when defending a corner for quick counter attacks due to his pace. But he wasn't really their main striker.

He played 32 games at striker last year. 1 game at AM and 1 game on the wing. I think its fair to say he was playing as the main striker.

He was their main striker, partly because Maja and Dike were injured all season. Really though, his position is striker

He is what 31 and how many games has he played in the last six seasons? Can't see this as a goer.
Just thought Id checked where Van Ginkel is playing, knowing JH record with transfers the bloke is probably retired 🤣 no he ain't In fairness however he's meant to be going to Rangers

I'm guessing thst losing out on stamenic was a blow. Sure there will have been other irons in the fire, but I'd sooner wait until January than get it wrong.

We do have options in the middle, and let's not forget that position was hit particularly hard fir injuries last season, so I don't think it's as critical as people are making out.

Saddle which team in Red are you hearing Vik is off to and does this mean we have identified a CM?

3 targets for CM evidently. All in the box to box mould. Dunno whether that's classed as an 8 or a 6 nowadays.

As people expected and tbf it's quite obvious, Sporting expecting a Vik move hence the instalment to us. Arsenal still pole position and Vik happy to go there, will be less than release clause though

We are confident we will be getting both sell on clauses from Vik and Hamer this summer, hence no rush at the mo for the CM and experienced CB/RB, Robins confident he can snap them up near the end of the window when we get the wad of cash

Any names out of the three you’ve heard?

Been told that After Thomas Asante we need to offload or wait for the Hamer or Vik sell on (whichever comes first) before the CM Comes in

Expect Collins to be the one of the keepers to go
Not too surprising news - we don’t have a bottomless pit
