Werder Bremen last week and Stoke today bypassed our midfield at will. Then our backline is under pressure and forced to scramble. Our forward players are also left on an island with no linkup play from back to front that Stoke and Werder showed. These are all warning signs we must heed and need to improve upon.

Get the bid in for Kyprianou now. I’d rather not have eyes than watch Jamie Allen start at DM again this season.

I've seen several games he was in last year and he never stood out. Just looked an ok'ish League One player. I certainly don't think he would transform our midfield.

Sign Kyprianou now. I knew they would start Jamie Allen at DM after the friendlies but he must be 'last resort' back up this season.

Not sure about your first point, but your spot on about Allen. He needs to be the guy you're using when seeing out a game and want to rest players, or when you have so many injuries you're down to the barebones. And to play in cup matches or weaker opposition for rotation. Realistically, Allen shouldn't be an option for starting line-up, and Palmer is unfortunately a bit of a luxury (especially in this formation). So we're down to 4 midfielders, and one is out injured - a massive problem really.

Kyprianou is no better than Eccles, Torp or Allen. That’s why he continues to play in L1. Let’s not get carried away with hype. We need an astute, experienced championship operator. It may not be a glamour acquisition or one that captures the imagination but we need someone who can exert an element of control over games like today.

Matt Grimes fits the bill

According to the Eflupdates Twitter page both Forrest and Ipswich have both activated the release clause of Hamer, not many followers but one of them is a sky blues account, I doubt it's got any weight behind it but be nice if true, couple of million in the bank might help get someone like Madsen over the line

I can see him at Brentford and wolves have 51 million to spare after selling Neto to Chelsea, who by the way is determined to buy every single player in the world, by this rate they'll be playing a 10-51-62 on the opening game of the season! Absolute madness what they are doing, wouldn't want to see their wage bill

If we can only get one midfielder in I'd much rather have a guy who can pass through the lines and out of a press, than someone who can drive forward with the ball at their feet.

I think people panicking a bit and looking into things too much

These players will continue to gain experience and some will become leaders in time. Don't have to buy a seasoned player although I wouldn't be against it either

We do need a midfielder in though as Allen isn't of the quality required for auto promotion contending team week in week out.

I like Thomas alot which is why it's so silly @Samo accused me of having a boo boy! But his passing was poor yday. That said do we really want a seasoned pro I go de trail Thomas and binks development? I'm not so sure

Fine margins in this game. Has binks scored that header or even if it remained scoreless we would be here talking about a clean sheet and away point whilst playing poorly. Mark of champions etc

I think we will be okay personally. Just need that midfielder in for sure and hopefully a RB back up

Eccles must have been carrying a knock. He's been one of the first names on the team sheet for a couple of years now, there's no way Robins picks Allen ahead of him at DM for tactical reasons. Guessing he had no choice but to start him

Sheaf, Eccles, [new signing] Rudoni and Torp will all be ahead of him when everyone is fully fit I'm sure.

Robins and King already know we need another midfielder, Stamenic nearly came in weeks ago. I assume we’ve been looking at spending good money on one but it takes time and need to find the right one, even more important now Sheaf is out a little while. It will happen. Will surely be helped by Gyokeres leaving if that even happens.

Gyokeres played for Sporting in their first league game on Friday night & scored.

Think we’ll really regret missing out on Alan Browne.

Same.

He was literally the exact player we needed. Our own fault for fucking it up courting Stamenic when Browne could have been signed sealed delivered

There was a point mid May before Browne got Married that we were solid frontrunners for his, and McCallums signature

Think we will look back at both and regret it. Would have strengthened both positions we are weak in for free (granted wages)

And huge signing on fees …:
