think It depends on how/where we finish this season, don’t think we’ll be adding too many, lampard Was brought in to get more from the players we’ve got, he’s started to do that, maybe 3 or 4 in and try and keep hold of sheaf, MVE and wright, won’t be a bad summer
If we managed to do that I’d be well happy for next year. I can’t see it though. Sheaf’s gotta be off, right?
Wasn’t there some ITK rumours of other players angling for a move away too?

Think that was when robins was still here, not sure what do with sheaf, a fit sheaf with grimes would be quality, but he misses a lot of games and out of contract in a year, be good to see how wright, EMC, grimes, and sheaf improve us, don’t think we’ll need that many, we’re not far off with what we’ve got now and surely we’re due a good start to the season ? We convinced grimes to sign because of our ” project “ ? Would hate to start slow again next season because we’ve rebuilt the squad again

I think we can make a go of it if we build on what we have. We can’t afford to lose our 3 best players

My terrible memory is fading but did EMC, when playing on the left, drift into the middle a bit?
I’ve never really been as convinced by Wright in a more central position. Would be interesting if they could swap about a bit…if that’s what Mbappe and Vinicius do?

Yes, he did. Both wingers are expected to act as a second striker when the ball is on the opposite side of the pitch which is how Sakamoto nearly scored a header against Leeds.

With that in mind, it seems inevitable that EMC and Wright will play either side of Simms. Both players are good at attacking the far post.

Individually, EMC and Wright are just better players than Sakamoto at scoring, taking players on and arguably assisting too. Why wouldn’t try that combo of players, I don’t know.

Wright has been in every US squad that he’s been eligible for, why leave when he can potentially get promoted next season and be a premier league player, especially when he has guaranteed game time and to be our main man, Potch will want him to play where he can show his talents best
Hope you are right and I fully think he'd be mad to risk a move not working out.. but there have been rumblings about how too many of the US squad are playing in "lesser" leagues. If there is interest in Haji in the summer that may factor into his thinking

Grimes changes the Sheaf conversation. I’d offer him something in the summer which I don’t think he’ll take. Then it’s time to cash in.
Then again signings like grimes might convince sheaf to stay, but think your right, he’s seen o hare and hamer move on he’ll want to do the same probably, and we’ve done ok without him, be good to have him fully fit for one more season

I am not sure anyone will come for Wright in the summer, they'll be wary of his recent injury and want him to prove he won't break down again. Maybe next January if we are not in contention for playoffs or better.

dovin
mve
kitching/thomas
new QUICK cb
new QUICK LB
grimes
sheaf/ new
rudoni
Clarke
wright
saka/ Raphael

4-3-3

not a bad starting 11, still like us to improve on saka on the right and would even sign another CB not sure Thomas, kitching or binks are good enough, but add another 3 or 4 to that squad and it’s not bad ?

Could say The same about sheaf, don’t think he’ll have as much interest as everyone or he thinks

Losing MVE and Sheaf would be disastrous and set us up for failure from the outset. It would be incredibly difficult to recruit a top 6 team without them.

Should Wright leave too, it would be time to start protesting against the ownership in my opinion

Losing these players is inevitable and definitely part of the business model. This is how we generate a large part of our income.
The next Sheaf and MVE will be knocking around somewhere you would hope, and this is where canny recruitment comes in because the business model fails without it.

Now fully fictitious scenario that 100% wont happen here but say we got promoted and you could only sign players from the championship, based on Leeds, Sheff U and Burnley going up who do you reckon we’d sign or you’d like us to sign. For me the squad would look like this:

(Not order of first choice, second choice etc)
GK: Dovin | Johansson
RB: MvE | Hume
CB: Thomas | Kitching | Fry | Dunne
LB: Bidwell | Cirkin
CDM: Grimes | Sheaf
CM: Rudoni | Torp | Bellingham | Hackney
RW: Sakamoto | Manhoef
ST: Haji | Simms | Sargent
LW: EMC | Sainz

You can pick any CBs from the Championship and you’ve ended up with that shit?

I think for me a wildcard signing could be Kayky for the RW, he’s had a failed loanspell at Sparta Rotterdam but at his best he’s a very skillful and quick RW with lots of flair, could be good competition for Tats

If MvE goes we’ll need 3 signings for our right hand side, been neglected the last 3 windows.

Think we’ll go big on a RW (Wright level signing) in the summer to finish the attack

I would like to keep Dovin, Wright, EMC and Rudoni. One stops the goals. The others create or score them.

Not many I want to go but Collins is top of the list. His confidence is shot and he is finished at our club.

Players to come in depends on how this season goes. If we manage to make the top 6 then get promoted we would need to look at a different level of players just to have a chance of staying up. So we would have to get rid of several more players.

Frank should you not be sending this direct to Doug ;)

They would be due fairly hefty compensation i think, but yeh a player i'd be going all in for.
Under 24 so if they do offer him a deal then they would be due compensation and we would have to agree a figure with them which should be simple as Doug and the Posh owner seem to have a good relationship. However if they dont even offer him a deal which I cant see then no compensation required

I think they have/will as i've already read things about the Posh owner talking about the compo. Seems to think they can get a fair whack.

poku would be a class signing but would have a lot of offers, which is why I suggested Kayky as he’s younger and potentially could come on a loan to buy or straight permanent.

Lol, come home callum

Think this may well be lazy journalism tbh

I am happy to be corrected, but I was told Callum doesn’t really get on with his family and has no intention to return to the area, hence why he chose Newcastle over Villa in 2020

I’d love it to happen, I just can’t see it

It will be interesting to see which players still want to leave if we actually make the playoffs and get promoted

Not a huge amount of players on this list I’d take…

Tyrhys Dolan or Victor Moses for RW
Anfernee Dijksteel or Cyrus Christie as a backup for MVE
Ilias Chair or John Swift for AM but think both players have past their peak
Kenneth Paal but his height puts me off, don’t want another JDS
Jimmy Dunne
Freddie Woodman and get rid of Collins, Wilson & Tyler and use the wages to have two solid keepers (wishful thinking but would never happen)
Grady Diangana
