Probably not, but they have a young team and they’re doing well. The average age of their midfield is 22, or something?

Chris Rigg has literally just turned 17, and has more balls and drive than Sheaf, that’s for sure. I spoke to a Sunderland fan about this, he appeared on a podcast, and he said it’s just clicking at the minute, mainly due to the organisation and tactical ability of the manager.
But we've been told you must have experienced players to get results.

At the moment they are outperforming their xG quite a bit (albeit they’d still be doing well if they weren’t outperforming it).

I think it’s a long season and with young players and injuries they may fall back a bit, their ‘squad’ isn’t on the same level as their first 11 imo. But I can’t see them dropping lower than 6th. They have some great young players in Rigg, Bellingham, Mundle.

I do hope I'm wrong, but I thought we had at least a fair chance of getting something today with Robins in charge, but can't help thinking that firing him before this game and leaving a complete novice in charge, may well have just gifted the 3 points to Sunderland.

Sincerely hope to be proved wrong.

They have a decent mix, to be fair. The experience they have compliments the younger lads. Even then, we’re talking players who are 27, like Roberts and Mepham, and O’Nien and Browne who are 29.

Can’t beat that balance of both, yet they have a lot of young talent there, apparently.

We could've really done with Browne

Problem is we have no quality coming through the academy
Hard to tell when we never see any of them. Assume Aidan must have something going for him. Considering he’s come off the bench last year and been picked for USA 21. Kai Yearns is highly rated as CAM. The goalies seem highly rated as well.

Not the golden generation we used to have mind when in league one

Wouldn't surprise me if Dovins injured because its an absolutely mental call to just start Collins out the blue in my view
If he's not injured his confidence will be shot to pieces. Comes in as a big signing to be our number one. Gets dropped for Wilson, you can make an argument there about taking him out of the firing line and the fact that Wilson was our first choice for a long time.

Comes back in when Wilson gets injured and doesn't really do a whole lot wrong only to get dropped for someone who has struggled to get a spot on the bench in months even when we've had 2 keepers as subs and looked terrible when he was last playing.

You'd have to hope he's a pretty strong character mentally otherwise something like that could really get in your head.

I'm struggling to get any enthusiasm for this one, to be honest. Fully expecting an incoherent performance that matches the apparent lack of experience and leadership in the coaching team.

Sorry for the negativity. Of course I want us to win, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that there's a large part of me that wants to see Doug King suffer for being such an arrogant prick. Again, sorry, I know that's a shit attitude, but it's how I feel.

Unfortunately if King suffers, the club and fans also suffer.

Yeah, same but there wasn’t much in the Derby performance to suggest we would’ve with robins in charge either. Some of the players do seem to turn it up a notch for the bigger games though

He better be injured. Dropping him for Collins would be stupid.

Maybe Carr fancies this as his big opportunity to go bold with selection and take the plaudits if it pays off. Would rather he just stuck with what we’ve been doing.

So you want him sacked too?

We haven’t seen Collins yet to be fair. Maybe he’s the best keeper and robins kept him out as he was in the get rid camp.

It’s only one game anyway before the name boss comes in against top of the league. Free hit

We have seen Collins. All last season. He was crap. He was crap at Barnsley and got dropped a lot there as well.

Very little.

I like the look of the left back (sorry, can't remember his name). He was looking very good until he got injured.
I think it’s Perry, isn’t it? I’m not overly familiar with the positions of the youth team players, to be honest.

Andrews, Dausch, Perry, Yearn…we let Stretton go despite how often he’d score, Rus was on the fringes of the first team then left, Howley and Burroughs will probably go the same way.

I find it hard to fathom why we’re not producing that quality of young talent nowadays, that can break into the first team. Eccles is the only one for a while.

And who knows how he is this season. Not saying he’ll do well today but fecking hell it’s not like any of the keepers have been amazing this year.

Why sack a manager then demand the new one doesn’t change a thing? Weird.
Because he’s a caretaker than will only be in charge for one game? Better to stick with what we know for now and then once we get a perm appointment in they can work on their own style.

You’re just hitting out at everything right now.

You’re going after someone for wanting the manager sacked after saying you wanted him out Wednesday night. Come on.

I’m saying I want to see change. If Robins was the issue and not the top tier elite modern set up then now he’s gone with his old school ideas Dr Claire and the gang can finally implement these amazing tactics we’ve been missing and we’ll fly up the league, right?

What's our average age of there's is 22?

Not sure why that's relevant.
And to be honest, even if they had a team of toddlers and won the league, Robins has always had a few old heads, it worked, we shouldn't have changed the demographic of the squad.

I think Rhys Carr should have gone with Robins if not before him. Along with the rest of the coaching set up. I think we’re shit because of them and the fact nothing is changing suggests it’s their ideas that are being enacted and therefore they should have been sacked.
