Just what the f**k is "hoying"? They make up their own language!
they constantly think it’s okay to mock someone who’s passed away
celebrated a dead man’s death and called him a poof as an insult...
It was bad enough when halfwits mocked JH during his years as a pundit for his voice, hair, appearance etc. Half those people probably had no idea of what he had achieved in the game. But deliberately insulting the name of a man who's been dead three years, and who lived his final years with the tragedy of dementia, is pathetic. It would be the same if our fans abused the name of Bob Stokoe in the same way, but I wouldn't dream of doing so (and have never heard fellow fans doing so either). Sad that some people are not better than to dish out such abuse: I doubt they would call JH a poof to the faces of his widow and sons, fucking cowards.
I think it's a fair shout to question Bob Stokoe's sartorial deficiency in his 1973 cup final outfit. That's as far as I would take it.It was bad enough when halfwits mocked JH during his years as a pundit for his voice, hair, appearance etc. Half those people probably had no idea of what he had achieved in the game. Some of the posts on there look like they belong on a parody/spoof Sunderland forum.Coventry Statement
Honestly, I’m lost for words. I don’t think I've ever come across such a weird, deluded, bitter bunch of people in my life.

"piss poor from the club to put that out as an official statement like
it's like yeah yeah some of our fans are twats but you started it"
This guy's bang on, our statement should start and end with investigating the dickheads without any of the 'yeah but' nonsense about the game here.

What are the effects of inbreeding?Honestly they are a fucking weird bunch, send some scientists up there and work out what is doing it to them.
Wholehartedly agree. A section of our fans acted like scumbags and we will investigate it within our powers /fin. Draw a line under it."piss poor from the club to put that out as an official statement like

Totally agree. I saw my first game in 1964 and well remember the debacle of that "delayed game". Sure, there was a bit of animosity from Sunderland for a while and then after a couple more seasons, it was all forgotten about. It has certainly only been this last 5 or 6 years that it has all been brought to the fore again. I'm guilty of a bit of it simply because I love a bit of banter, but some are taking things a wee bit too far. I think it's time the two sets of fans drew a line under this and agree to let it drop. After all, it happened in 1977 ferchrissakes! 42 years ago! I doubt if there's many on this forum that were even born then, let alone remember the event!Wholehartedly agree. This Sunderland Coventry rivalry which has seemingly only gained traction in the last couple of years due to some moronic keyboard warriors on both sides is one of the cringiest things I've witnessed.
Tobyfair, Tottenham tried very hard to send us down on that final game if the season. But for Oggy in world class form, we'd have got beaten on the day.so aswell as 77 there was also
1990 Speedie v Gary bennett
2000 Summerbee v Froggatt
1997 Sent them down again with a delayed kick off (just for those who were too young in 1977)
so there is certainly some history between the teams

Don't recall Middlesboro fans constantly going on about Coventrys late kick off on that day. They were in the same boat as Blunderland where they needed us to lose to stand a chance of staying up.

This animosity isn't going to go away anytime soon and I can see morons from all over who don't support either team, descending on the stadium to crack heads when we next cross paths be it next season or further on. Certainly won't be an away game I'll be tempted to go to.Totally agree. I saw my first game in 1964 and well remember the debacle of that "delayed game". If Feyernord 'fans' were there last Saturday, what's the chances of Ajax coming over as well ?
We might get a few from Go Ahead Eagles or some other minnow more akin to our own statusZero

There wil be cases where extensive injury time (8 mins on Saturday for example) and vital end of season relegation games going to the wire where scores will be communicated to the teams concerned. Even more so these days with instant updates. Are fans that naive to think teams will go gung ho for a win if it is communicated to them that they are already safe?
It was in their own hands to stay up and they blew it, should be the end of the story if you are any kind of rational sensible adult. As a fan I've seen many costly injustices but remaining bitter about it to that extent is borderline paranoia.
A very unenviable 'treble' achieved by M'boro that season. As I recall, didn't the club briefly campaign to have their points deduction overturned - owing to not fulfilling a fixture?Tobyfair, Tottenham tried very hard to send us down on that final game if the season.
