I was out of the country and out of Sky access area last Sunday

Followed the match via this forum.

A lot of comments during the game made me think we were struggling, and lucky to be winning.

Watched the game last night, and could count the number of times we let Sunderland have even half chances, on the fingers of one hand. The energy and commitment was phenomenal.

We were the only team on the park that played any classy football amidst all the battling.

Referee was OK - Only two issues of any controversy in my mind - the reckless challenge from Sunderland that went unpunished, and the inconsistency with respect to throwing the ball away. For such a hard fought match I thought he did really well to keep the game under control with only the one dubious yellow card.

Obviously I was watching in a stress free environment - probably proves how fandom works when an intense game is being played live in front of us

That’s how I saw it an early goal and then let them have the ball and play on the counter attack. First half they should have equalised but second half they were quite poor

I can't remember the last time a game went so slow, particularly the last 15. With hindsight, you're right, they didn't really trouble us but it was absolute torture.
Don't think I commented on here during the game but I can how, let's say, emotional people were getting.
Was probably just the fact you were following on the forum at the time, I'm sure if you'd been there or watching on TV or listening to CWR you would have been just has hysterical as the rest of us!

I normally comment at the game but it was so tense I hardly commented in the second half

I was giving a lecture on Sunday during the game. Full time was just before I started the second half. Quick fist pump to a startled audience and then on I went.

Regarding following games on here - which I enjoy. It's the annoying platitudes

"We need to score early." - I think that is true of just every every game of football that has ever been played. Not sure a coach very often says "Don't worry about scoring goals, we'll get one near the end". An underdog in a cup tie maybe.... Actually we do score early.

But most annoyingly, after we've just gone one up and the opponent is inevitably trying to get back.
"We need another goal" This is self evidently true of every game where one side leads by either one or two goals. It is only not true when one side leads by three or more. So not very often

^^^ this, it reads like an extract from the Sunderland board, only difference is they thought they were the better team, cos they had more possesion!!
We sat back and let them coma at us and they never really looked breaking us down, resolute and superb defending.

Oh god, not somebody listening on cwr and then trying to use hindsight again?

Strange how that didn't happen when people were pissed off against Shrewsbury , Oxford or Gillingham.

Not sure what's wrong with some of those comments, people watching the game can match them up with what was happening at the time.

Dabo was switched off a few times that game.

And we didn't concede a goal against Sunderland.

So people get a bit edgy during a game and post the odd irrational comment. Why does it matter? MR and Liam Kelly aren't logged into SBT in the 70th minute.

I probably murmured a few of those comments during a stressful second half, but coming out of the ground was saying how well we played. Why do people get so uptight and moan constantly about this? Just lighten up and try to enjoy it and stop worrying about what other people are saying.

I was at the game and then when I got home I watch it back in full. You do see it differently because at the time I was thinking “they’re gonna score” but watching it back I could see the back three were defending brilliantly and there wasn’t that much danger after all. Everything was under control.

Bit of a mistake - agreed to lecture to a society that meets at 1.30 pm on the first Sunday of the Month, when the game was originally the day before.

I did not enjoy the game and the final whistle was a relief... Not because Sunderland were any good, but the pressure of enormity of the game and knowing that holding onto the three points was massive.

Once their 'goal' was rightfully chalked off (and we did celebrate like we scored), the wind came out of their sails and we saw the match out well.

If that was stressful... I dread to think how I will feel with 5 games to go!
