MattSB on YouTube getting demonetarised.

A great ambassador of the club (especially compared to those toothless simpletons that always appear whenever we're in the news), well respected amongst other Championship fans. It would be a real shame to see him taken down.

Seems a decent lad, and a true member of the Sky Blue family.

Not sure if there is anyone on here who is familiar with appealing YouTube rulings, but even if not please give him a subscribe and like his videos.

Before anyone says anything, I don't even know this lad. Just want to see us rally round a fellow Sky Blue

YT have their reasons. You have been told the reason, I don't understand what the problem is, why gripe. They told you that you have been misleading, how much clearer can they be.

Wtf has he misled anyone with?

He goes to games, records them, then gives his opinion.

How the hell is that misleading?

Misleading from a genuine fan?

I honestly don't understand these types of people.

Probably the sort that would sh(t themselves if a traffic warden approached them. Proper arselickers

I wish him all the best but as soon as it turned from a hobby into a job then it's no different to any of self employed business out there. You'll get set backs and will need to adapt for your business to grow. Hopefully he gets it sorted but it's a time for him to think outside the box now. Good luck to him.

In other words "support local business" can f*ck off

It's weird. They should at least tell him what the misleading thing is.

If he has misled, he will obviously have to try and find another job. He could still do the YouTube videos in his spare time though. Just cut back on the amount and amount of time spent on them. He did say it was his passion, so hopefully he should be able to still do them. He shouldn't stop doing them because he isn't getting paid, in my humble opinion.

I have no idea how much people get paid from YT videos and I am sure the very vast majority of YouTubers just post stuff up and never earn a single penny. 🤷

Anyway, YT should tell him exactly what he has done wrong. I am guessing someone must have reported him. Has to be.

Shit for the lad tbh. Hope he gets it resolved. I wonder if there is an issue showing clips from the game? So many football youtubers will be in the same boat if that's true though.

What’s he supposed to have done?

According to him YouTube have said "misled"

They've not clarified on it apparently

Whenever I've watched his videos its literally a review of the games.

Its not like he's tried to get money out of people

They could be clearer by explaining which bit was misleading.
Agreed. It's obviously not a human right to have a monetarised YouTube channel, but if you're creating content that is driving traffic to a platform that is earning money from said traffic, and is giving you a portion of the earnings, and randomly decide to stop it, you should be told exactly what offence you have committed and provided evidence. Outside of that, it becomes a little sketchy.

He should be punished just for having that mate of his who pulls odd faces & almost tries to pout on his videos - the one who was literally almost in tears & had a massive girly strop in the playoff semi 2nd leg just because he'd heard Gus' goal being scored from another room & their watchalong stream was a few minutes behind - made himself look stupid

Just watching his video from earlier today the betting industry could be the guilty party.
Not saying it was but could be, their take on predicting the championship next season?

Standard YouTube behaviour TBH. Happens a lot and I’d be surprised to see him get anywhere complaining.

This is why you don’t hang your income on YouTube folks.

Not sure how he's making a living off his channel tbf, 66k subs and 10-20k views per vid can't be paying much surely?

I agree with you. Even if you're making 1p per view (and there's no way they make that much), it would only be £100-200 per video. I heard most make their proper money through advertisers in their videos, so if he doesn't have any I can't see how he's making a living off YT.

Yeah looking at this I’d be surprised if he’s breaking minimum wage.

Interesting. Always wondered how much a couple of guys I watch on YT were making, and based on 100k views a day average, plus advertisers, I'm guessing $50-100k each. It's not much for the amount of work that goes into content creation, has to be a passion.

I'm a (free) subscriber to his YouTube channel and enjoy his content. If he has broken YouTube's terms & conditions, he hasn't got a chance at getting his channel remonetised. YouTubers and Twitch streamers with millions of viewers have had their accounts taken down once they have broken the service's terms & conditions with a similar vague explanation. I hope for his sake he can get it resolved by appealing, but if he has broken the rules, he'll need to look at another way of earning money.

In terms of 'misleading', online platforms have *very* strict rules on advertisements/promotions/betting/sponsorships and have to declare them to the viewer. If he hasn't broken the rules for the above, the only other explanation I can think of is if he has 'misled' YouTube's meta data.

The best thing for him to do is to appeal and make sure YouTube get a human to actually review the flagged issues.

I watch regularly, literally nothing misleading. Watches games, gives his opinion. Does other videos like predictions etc, all opinions. Don't get any of the negativity he's getting, it's a championship first channel that many other supporters watch and he is a good example of a decent Coventry supporter, we need more of them given how weird some of our X/twitter fans are.

Yeah, but I guess most are saying he must have broken YT's rules. I don't know how, but he says he has appealed and it's been rejected. On the surface it just doesn't look like it was a mistake.

They really should tell him what he's done wrong though. Otherwise it's just baffling.
