Supporters Consultative Group (5 Viewers)

As i understand it the SCG is a body that co ordinates the various supporter factions to link to the club as a single body. As such they are representing all the fans as a single point of contact.

If i have understood that correctly how do they report back their meetings to the fans in general? Are their minutes of meetings available? Does anyone here know ? The impression i get (perhaps completely wrongly) is of a closed private group with little transparency.

If they are consulting on our behalf then perhaps we should be getting regular feed back whether or not we are one of the SCG member groups. Perhaps this does happen I just have not come across it yet, anyone point me in the right direction?

I understand they had a recent meeting with TF - would be interested to see what came out of that

cheers
OSB

Not a good thing IMO - relying on a single point of contact for all their 'customers' is open to huge distortion by the representatives of the group as inevitably they will focus on whatever issues they want and probably end up being steered by a single or couple of individuals with who knows what agenda - needs to be wider than that and obviously transparent or it becomes worthless

I'm on the SCG - haven't got time to post a proper response to this yet but i will. The SCG is not a fans representative body, its a consultative group which is endorsed and in fact driven by the club. It has been really successful since its establishment but has struggled to gain momentum in the past few years because of the constant changing of the management team at the club.

However we now have a chair and deputy chair, a terms of reference and meet monthly with the club. Tim Fisher is fully behind it and we're working on is communication.

One thing to bear in mind, is that the group is made up of a really wide cross section of fans and its not about finding out the gossip or anything like that, its about how we can help the club to engage the fans, get more people to games, improve the atmosphere etc.

Thanks kingharvest

I wasnt sure how the SCG fitted in and what were the drivers behind it. Would be good if its discussions etc were relayed to the fans in general in some manner.

Yeah i agree. Communication is something that needs fixing. There is a view, and i think i agree, that the club need to do more in terms of communicating the relationship. Alot of the people involved are good at relaying back out. So for example there is a guy who sits in Block 15 who has a facebook group where he trys to communicate back and forth.

We're trying to get a focus for each meeting, so last month we met with Arthur (Health and Safety) to try and explore the potential for moving the away fans closer to the home fans. Something i think most people would agree with. Dan and Justin are at every meeting, and Tim has been to 3 of the last 4 as well, so the club are behind it.

I'll get communication on the agenda for the next meeting so we can try and make sure that more people are aware of whats happening.

thanks kingharvest i appreciate the background and the fact you are raising communication with the SCG. I firmly believe in the more communication the better

I think the fact a member of this forum is on this SCG is at least a starting point - good to see - any other SCG members on here?

The Sky Blue Trust through myself or Steve Brown attend the SCG to represent our growing number of members and will be publishing a report on every meeting on our website - would do it now but didn't take minute notes at the last meeting so wouldn't want tp put out an incomplete report. When its published I will put a link on here for interested people to follow. The SCG has some use, otherwise we wouldn't bother attending but it could be better and more influential but the Trust view it is better to be part of a "club" and try to change it for the better from within rather than simply stand on the sideline and snipe and criticise.

If there are match day matters that people wish to have brought to the clubs attention please feel free to contact me either by PM, on here as a post or through the Trust website www.skybluetrust.co.uk

Can somebody post them up on here too so that the normal city fans can read them without having to be part of a club etc? :)

Don't need to be a member of the Trust to read the Trust website so happy to put a link on here when they are published - don't worry Nick promise not to steal to many posters, sure they will find their way back ;)

They're not secret just crappily publicised - its usually poorly organised. At the last one we were marched all round the Ricoh by Justin Towse looking for a room "the club wouldn't get charged for". Such was this farce that one member who represents the Diamond club didn't even get to the meeting as no one at reception could tell him where it was being held. I am sure if you contacted the Chair of SCG he would invite you to attend on behalf of Sky Blues Talk or if you're OK with it I can wear two SBT hats and report here as well and take any issues from posters to meeting

"trying to find a room the Club wouldn't get charged for". Joke or what?
The Club with no debts, according to Fisher, doesn't pay its rent anyway so what does he mean? Is he trying to save people the bother of printing out invoices that they know won't be paid?
Can't even lie straight in bed.

I blame Clarke: the elephant in the room.
