What's Doug supposed to say then? Just let people spread lies and believe he has wrecked the club? People want answers and if that's his version of the truth then he has every right to present it. This forum has been full of people blaming Doug for Adi leaving and forcing staff hires on Mark Robins all he did was say his version of the events.

Well there are small holes appearing like the fact loads of wannabe managers applied for the number 2 role

Then I suspect your source could be reliable but it’s also equally possible that Robins could’ve jettisoned the deal.

True but the reason given seems strange. The owner doesn’t think the timing is right?

If MR wasn’t interested, why have CR come to Ryton? Why did CR think it went so well a deal was going to be worked with the owner? Only to be told the owner said the timing wasn’t right?

Anyway you stack it up, someone’s not being completely honest.

If that is what he said, it makes the sacking of MR after the poor Derby performance look even more knee jerk than it did at the time....which does undermine part of the narrative he was selling.

But if he did have it all planned then people would be complaining that he was a snake for going behind Robins' back.

One thing I hope we can all agree on is Robins deserved better than to have an owner plotting his replacement whilst he was still in place

It'll be boring as hell unless those present really push King if he decides to deflect from the actual questions being posed ( if that's what's happening)
Much more interesting will be, perhaps a long while from now, what Robins' take is on his dismissal, though I think he's probably too professional to say too much even then..

Wrong!

Who said Adi was sacked after a letters of no confidence style rejection from the squad?

Serious egg on face happenings tonight

Why?
What if you think he's lying?
I actually believe him on this but he definitely came out with some bullshit tonight.

Got to be honest. I think doug did really well tonight and im encouraged by his insistence that we have the singular focus of getting promoted out of this league.

I can see the evidence trail to back up everything he said, i think he is shocked and hurt by the response directed at him from this, which maybe showed his naivety to it and im not sure tonight helped fix that but i felt like he tried his best to articulate that he wants us to succeed.

Ultimately, he will be judged on this decision only at a future point in time. This replacement will either get us to the premier league or will get sacked. He’s stressed he wants to get it right, so now we just have to wait and see if he does.

I don't think he would have lied.

Twisted facts to suit his narrative, sure, but telling a total lie about anything would be obvious to a lot of people internally and would destroy his standing at the club - think he's smarter than that.

I love how you're all assuming it was gross misconduct on his part. Bit of a slur. From what I understood and I don't claim to be itk, it was a straight choice between him and Robins and they of course favoured the manager based on the previous. That to me says it's a breakdown in their relationship. I was told the reason for that was Adi's mrs, but don't know how much truth there is in it as often these things get embellished.

This is one of the posts, I can't find the other where I was more graphic. Searched for a few things in my posts but can't see it. Not reposting for an 'I told you so' point scoring, but simply there had to be more in it than a new coaching structure. Otherwise we'd have added and enhanced what we had.

They were our Clough and Taylor, together genius and the sum greater than the parts. Alone, perhaps we do need to move forwards despite me having been quite vociferous about it being the wrong decision, I've come to the conclusion I need to let it go and get behind the new broom.

I'm sure he said Robins was good for the time but we need to push on and that he thought Robins wasn't up to the task to what is required

Anyone get the feeling Robins could have been a bit of a blocker to bringing in a new coach to support him. Lots of really talented applicants but none over the line…that was my wife’s take on it.
That was my take but one ITK says DK blocked Ramsey

Well the big one was the bust up, I think some of the other stuff he said wasn't true but cant see him lying about what went on between Robins and Viveash.
The all the number 2 applicants wanted to be head coach was just bizarre.

it’s a good point and it got a bit lost. I was happy to hear him talk about wanting to get out of this league, there was none of this bullshit about being happy to avoid relegation or scrape to lower mid table. Now he has to do something about it, and he’s got a lot of messes to fix that he made himself.

On the contrary he should have had feelers put out well in advance of the sacking. It's a cruel world. It's how businesses work. Now we have potentially several games with no manager.

Presumably King will be going on Talksport tomorrow?

I'm sure they say he was due on the day after the forum. Citing that he didn't want to say anything until he took questions from the fans

I didn't hear the fans forum and have only read what has been said on here.

1. Just because King comes out and says stuff, doesn't mean it's automatically true. Seems a lot of people on here immediately believed everything he was saying this evening.

2. I would like to hear Robins' side of the story. Guess that's not going to happen due to NDA's or suchlike.

And as someone said, tonight seemed to imply that everything was Robins' fault and none of it Doug King's.

Hmmm....

I really would like to hear the other side of the story. Not sure what to believe here.

Not saying King is lying, but at the same time, I am not going to believe it just because he said it.

I think Saddles said that Robins would tell a different story.

I don't think we will ever know, so it's probably best to just move on and focus on the new manager, whoever that is going to be.

Yea but doug king has said what he's said and it's all exactly correct , no conversations were held face to face and everything is as he said ..

All robins fault
Yes, would liked to have know more about Director of role as that could be a car crash if it doesn’t work. Sounds like he wants to pass some of the pressure on.
