Out of all of it, the assistant manager thing is a bit odd. If what you have said in bold is true, which seems possible, what Doug is saying isn't entirely the truth. If that's right then I don't know why everyone is swallowing everything he has said as if it is absolute fact. He might be justified in many of his decisions, but I suspect he has twisted some things like this ever so slightly to get fans on board.
Yeah possible. I think thats because the Chris Ramsey (remembered his name now) has never been confirmed or reported right? Its just “social media rumour” as CWR put it last night.

I think what Doug is saying is true….to a point. He gave Robins everything he asked for…until he didnt.
I really truly believe that Doug really wanted to keep Robins and Aidy together and i think that once that was broken up Robins’ next move had to be a stormer. It wasnt

The owner said that MR was responsible for getting in an assistant and one never materialized.

Chris Ramsey spoke to MR at Ryton on October 9th. The appointment got vetoed on, or before October 14th. The reason given was that the owner thought the timing wasn’t right.

So MR must have known somewhere in between October 9th - 14th that he has a dead man walking.

To me, it seems that whole truth isn’t being told.
I think it's fairly obvious to the majority that Mark Robins had been on borrowed time for a good while.

So he won 4 major honours whilst being pissed up .

Not bad

No he had a huge team around him. I lived there in the 80’s

He said they weren’t good enough and then said it sounds a bit critical and apologised
I don’t think he did say/mean that. I think he believes that the wider coaching team are fine as relatively junior coaches.

I believe that he doesn’t rate Robin’s tactical acumen and he wants a senior member of the coaching staff to have a high level of tactical awareness. When Adi was in place we did, when Adi left we didn’t. MR was resisting putting someone in place to cover that important gap. Hence he fired him.

After listening to the forum I have changed my mind about Robins being sacked. I am not happy the way he was sacked though. You can't live in the past, amazing as it was under MR, but football is a results business and there was no guarantee MR would turn it round based on how he turned round in the past. I will always be grateful for the last 7 years with MR. He deserves all the plaudits he has received.
I do believe DK made the right decision. Pity there isn't a new poll after last night's forum.

Because I’ve been around a while i remember a Huddersfield fan coming on here when we hired Robins for a second time saying that Robins needed a good number 2 to be at his best and that he wasn’t convinced that Taylor was that man.

Someone with better search skills than me could probably find it but they may have been more right than we have ever known.

Great idea.

People are living in a fantasy world.

Can you imagine that meeting?

"Hi Mark, you're sacked. Do you mind if we call it mutual in the statement, and do you fancy doing a load of stuff for our media channels to make it look better for the fans?"
Not saying he should be spending hours doing media stuff. I was more thinking a thank you message to the fans which is pretty much standard these days.

Do people really think that when other managers are announced as leaving by mutual consent that's really what's happened 🤯

I don't get it still. You wanted it to be lied about and you expected robins to go along with it?

I guess the issue then would be "he fucked robins off and made it look like it was robins choice"

He wasnt a bad manager , he won 2 full members cups and 2 league cups and lost in another final after taylor
He was a fantastic manager,I remember going to watch us play Forest in a cup game at the City ground,we we're in Division one Forest in Division two and left thinking what a great team Clough was building.
Sadly his personal issues got the better of him years later.

That kind of tallies - given I’m convinced the Luton and Middlesbrough delayed the inevitable.

I think Robins was gone if we’d lost to Luton.

Reality is all succesful clubs have a good team , currently that team isn't good enough .

Alex ferguson was very succesful with Mike phelan , fergie rarely took training but we don't attribute united success to phelan .
You can do that when you have the level of success he had

Playing devils advocate, Mark Robins may have changed his mind and just told Chris Ramsey it was down to the owner. Chris would still believe what he was told, your information would still be correct except the real reason wasn't provided. That all may be rubbish, but its a possibility we will never know

I'm not sure what you don't get tbh. Its a regular occurrence that managers get the push and the statement says mutual consent.

If you want to view that as being lied to then fine but I can't really remember too many occasions where an owner has chosen the route King has and gone after the person he's just fired.

Anyway if they weren't going to do something like that then IMO King should front it. Nothing to be gained from turning it into a soap opera and throwing Robins under the bus.

If hed said at the forum it was mutual consent what would the reaction have been from the audience?

Mutual effect is normally just a face saving phrase for the departing manager but is only possible if the departing manager wants the footballing world to think he agrees it wasn’t working, he had his frustrations too, etc etc and better to part ways ….. I suspect Mark wouldn’t have agreed to that.

I'm not getting what the point is? That is wasn't dressed up as mutual consent?

I thought he did front it by saying it was a sacking?

Not dissipated my anger that's for sure. If anything its worse!

Am I the only person that has worked for many people who behave exactly like King did last night. Pushing out people they disagree with and blaming everything that's perceived to be wrong on the person who has left while claiming everything they've done themselves is fantastic?

Really surprised me how many people are happy to just accept what King has come out with as 100% fact without any right of reply from Viveash or Robins, both of whom are most likely unable to give any response as part of their exit agreement.

Ultimately for me even if what he is said is the absolute truth he's managed the situation appallingly and that gives me concern for him running the club moving forward.

Its not difficult to arrange an exit for Robins which doesn't throw him under the bus and shit on everything he has achieved, it happens all the time. Could have waiting until after the Sunderland game and had a mutual agreement / gone as far as he can / personal reasons or any manner of other things along with a glowing statement from the club, highlights of what he's achieved, a leaving message from Robins wishing the club well in the future, give Robins his chance to say goodbye to the staff, players and fans etc etc. This was not the way to do it.

Laughable that King claimed he wouldn't speak to anyone before firing Robins out of respect, yet had been waiting to fire him for months, and was quite happy to spend an hour disrespecting him on the radio.
Your anger is worse?

This was a public forum, it was not some private meeting where Chatham House rules apply, every word he said is open to contradiction by Robins or Adi and will be reported on in full detail. Do you think Doug, knowing the above, would make unsubstantiated shit up? That would be suicidal for him and his investment.

I would really like to hear from Adi and Robins, but ultimately it is their choice, but for me if they remain silent then it would speak volumes as to whether Doug was being straight.

Finally, maybe he hasn’t spoken to anyone himself out of respect. Does that mean Austin or another hasn’t been sounding people out? Of course not, but neither I nor you know either of these things for sure. Things are not all mutually exclusive.

I am now looking forward To our next chapter, but I do not forget the great job Robins did.

Onwards and upwards. PUSB!!

I'm going to leave it otherwise I'll just be repeating myself. Not really sure how people are so confused at the suggestion that when King first announced it we should have done what pretty much every other club does to avoid a shitstorm.

Think some people just prefer the drama and soap opera of it all.

To be fair when he was here with Steve Taylor he did pretty good. Both the first and second spell.

It would have to be agreed if was mutual consent?

You said about fronting up but he (rightly or wrongly) did that by saying he was sacked. Surely?

It’s not you I think it’s the percentage of the fan base that would have wanted more detail and now they have it

in the media centre someone said exactly this and many in the room said but don’t you want to know more and very few (I was one) said well not really if it’s gonna be a shit storm at the club for a bit

I thought he came across ok. I don't know why he'd lie about Robins or anything else. He admitted he'd fucked up with some of the things albeit nothing majorly material.

Most of the questions were just a waste of time and Lorna and Rob should not have been involved as they're fans too emotionally invested.

Lets face it the questions have to be submitted in advance it is done on his terms.
