Do you really think it will happen or is what we hope will happen
Never rated the Specials. Seen them live even bought a couple of singles‘A message to you Rudy’ being belted out before kick off.
25k + jamming to this is giving me serious vibes
Amazed to hear that.Never rated the Specials. Seen them live even bought a couple of singles
But no......Message to you Rudy ... awful song.
Amazed to hear that.
I liked them when they started, saw them twice in 1979 at Tiffanys and next time 2019 in Catherdral. An absolutely incredible band.
Have you listened to their lyrics? Songs are just as relevant 45 years on in fact even more so with the racism in society being encouraged by some of the political parties in UK.
'Message to you Rudy' is actually one of my favourites too.
Everyone has their own taste admittedly.
Wouldn’t you need 25k+ liking the specials?‘A message to you Rudy’ being belted out before kick off.

Best stop singing Twist n Shout then too.Wouldn’t you need 25k+ liking the specials?
there’s so significant portion of our fanbase who weren’t even alive when they were about
Stop your messing aroundNever rated the Specials. Seen them live even bought a couple of singles

Yeah, originally from 67 or 68 I think. They covered it, it’s not their song?
It’s a belterYeah, originally from 67 or 68 I think.
I love it. Great song.
Good point. But to be fair the specials are pretty niche. The Beatles were a much bigger deal and remain a much bigger deal.Best stop singing Twist n Shout then too.
You could say that about the Beatles versus any other group/band that's ever existed.Good point. But to be fair the specials are pretty niche. The Beatles were a much bigger deal and remain a much bigger deal.
I’d imagine most people could identify far more Beatles songs than specials
The comparison was to twist and shoutYou could say that about the Beatles versus any other group/band that's ever existed.

Whatever will be, Will be (Que Sera Sera ) is definitely out then.Best stop singing Twist n Shout then too.
It’s also football-wide, there isn’t many football teams relating to the specialsWhatever will be, Will be (Que Sera Sera ) is definitely out then.
They're really notThe bookies are a decent starting point to gauge
They covered it, it’s not their song?
Niche? You could say the same about The Enemy? The wider fanbase seem to have embraced them….Good point. But to be fair the specials are pretty niche. The Beatles were a much bigger deal and remain a much bigger deal.

And that goes back to my original point that the majority of the fanbase will know them. Given they were only 13/14 years ahoNiche? You could say the same about The Enemy? The wider fanbase seem to have embraced them….
Nah, they were not that big and there's plenty of people who sing that song who wouldn't be able to name another song of theirs. And that goes back to my original point that the majority of the fanbase will know them. Given they were only 13/14 years aho
You'd be shocked, I'm of the right age and inn to music but they were never as big as people seem to think they were.I think most Cov kids that were into music would know the Specials.
Nah - I’ve heard of them, but apart from Ghost Town and Message to you Rudy, couldn’t tell you any more.I think most Cov kids that were into music would know the Specials.
It’s not slating though is it, music tastes change. Two tone was big as you said for 2 years. The message is fine.Granted it was a very short time but between 1979 and 1981 they were very big. They were featuring at the top of the music charts when people bought a serious amount of records. It's what a lot of people outside Coventry positively associate with us.
Even if you want to discount the music, the 2 tone movement and the anti racist message it sent out is something we should be proud originated from our town. I've never understood the need by some to denigrate them. I guess in football terms it could be argued that it follows from our history of slating homegrown players from Bobby Gould, through Andy Blair, Marcus Hall, Gary Mcsheffrey and now Josh Eccles, and that there will always be elements of bitterness to local boys done good..
It’s for nothing to do with that whatsoever, some people just don’t like their music as much as others. Our fanbase doesn’t slate homegrown players either.Granted it was a very short time but between 1979 and 1981 they were very big.
