To be fair, I’ll eat my cov scarf if robins is still here and we’re playing the same shape at the end of the year. I completely expect Robins to find the best shape and tempo for this team. How long that takes is anyone’s guess based on previous seasons. Could be soon like in league one or a while like last year.

And Simms wasn't a half chance , he had to be composed and slot it past the keeper , simple basic stuff

The header was probably just as easy to be fair, he'd got his jump right but seemed to let the ball hit the top of his head rather than arch his neck

As much as he wasn't great he made our two best chances for Simms, one good cross and one good ball in behind

EMC is quite frustrating - it might be wanting to score himself too much but he needs to lift his head. He had two opportunities on that chance alone to look to his right and pass and twice didn't do so. Hopefully this settles down in time.

Still think once things settle down and he gains confidence he will be a very good player for us

Many times Rudoni was staying in middle of pitch by Simms rather than creating the triangle with MVE and Sakamoto. Norwich were then able to nulify our right hand side. Maybe Rudoni was told to play that way but OHare was good at that intricate link play out wide and in middle.
Hate to say it but with Sheaf injured, Eccles and L.Kelly would have perhaps done a solid job in front of back 2.... they had a great understanding.
We are getting there slowly and highlights indicate Norwich were a bit lucky to take all 3 points. We huffed and puffed but with so many new attackers we need to relax and we will improve.

Simms had 2 great chances - through on goal and a free header he badly mis timed.

wright also created opportunity where he shot straight at Gunn.

have to score one of those and it’s a different game.

For all the people banging on about Norwich dominating the game, bear in mind that they scored with their only shot on goal. Even that was deflected, and if not was likely to have been saved by Dovin. After they scored Norwich had a decent amount of possession I'll agree, and we lost our way a bit, but overall I didn't think they were anything special. If we had taken the lead in the game, as we easily could have done through Simms, Wright or Rudoni's air shot, I think we would have won comfortably, even though we were far from being at our best. I suspect and hope that this was just one of those games where nothing really worked that happen every season and can soon be put to the back of our minds.

I don’t think Norwich dominated the game. They certainly didn’t have chance after chance and I thought we looked comfortable at the back. But equally I thought we snatched at things first half and as a result heads went down in the 2nd and our subs were poor and seemed just designed to get some newer signings on the pitch rather than anything tactical.

In the first half he put 2 or 3 crosses in that were asking to be knocked in.Dispite the criticism of our corner takers I thought some of those were asking for the same.We need to attack the ball more, someone attacking the near post might just help create space in the rest of the area.

This is something I’ve banged on about loads, how we always end up passing the ball in a horseshoe shape around the opposition’s box. We do it almost every game, and it was worse when we used to play 5 at the back, it leads to us looking like we’re controlling the game when really all we’re doing is moving the ball from left to right. There’s so few balls into the box and when we finally do cross a ball in it’s purely hopeful rather than targeted at a particular player.

Rarely do you see us cross a ball into an area where there’s 2-3 players ready to nod it in or chest it down and shoot. It’s all half-chances, every game is almost the same atm, it’s rare that you could pick out one well worked goal from another, it’s mainly just fortunate moments that go our way when we score goal. I think we’ll start picking up results because Robins seems to find a way when the chips are down but I genuinely do worry about what’s going in training and how we’re setting up in a game.

We have been crying out for an attacking coach for years. We are fine counter attacking but we’ve never known what to do with the ball when we’ve got time to build pressure.

Although surely he can reach out strikers in the box movement which is generally terrible.

To be fair it’s weird as in league one we were amazing with our pass and move and were consistently attacking from all angles. Think it’s more we don’t have confidence at the moment that we’re moving to the wings as opposed to having a go through the centre.

I want to see the midfield working their arse off, creating chances, getting forward and following up chances left by our forwards. Attack is the best form of defence, we need to score more goals if we’re to finish top 6, I don’t mind conceding 2 if we’re scored 4.

Teams in this division do not like dealing with the ball being moved around quickly with off the ball movement on top. Much easier said than done, and of course Lesta went down the Pep route instead, but I think that approach requires you to have a big technical advantage over the opposition to pull it off.

Absolutely, confidence in midfield is massively lacking for us, I’d rather us try and whip the ball in early or try a chipped through ball etc than us pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, only for it go out for a throw-in and then be smacked back to the keeper. Genuinely don’t mind losing the ball if we’re trying something or making their defenders think, it’s just all too easy for oppositions atm.

This is where O'Hare is missed. He came alive around the box, his energy trying to link play between the strikers/wide men have us a different dimension. Now we are very samey.

We need to bring our inverted forwards into play more, we need to engineer situations that enable them to come from out to in, this in our current set up would be Ruddoni or Simmss' job. It isn't happening.

Read an article calling a player having controlled grit.
I thought that was our problem a lack of grit. However, Sheaf, Lati, MVE, Bidwell, Eccles, Thomas all demonstrate controlled grit. Kitch definately has grit but is not always controlled. The same for Binks who has three yellows already.
JDS, Allen, Tavares and Tatsu all get stuck in but their lack of physicality hampers them. Torp fluctuates with his tackling and Rudoni looks lightweight when getting stuck in. Haji Wright can put himself about when he is in the mood and Bassette looks quite prepared to throw his weight about. Simms needs to get more physical and has improved to a degree in that respect. BTA and EMC need to up their tackling in the opposition half.
Think our tactics are not working at present, but that may just be bedding in a new system.
