Acl are in trouble and need the rent to balance the books or they are at risk of going under. Surly this proves that acl need Coventry city playing at the ricoh to remain viable. An arena with no club would be a disaster for both partys.

There would be scope to restructure but I can't think of another tenant who would use the Ricoh as a stadium on a regular basis. Conversion for another use would cost money and who would pay that, you're prob looking at £10m plus for a roof for starters.

Weren't the council / ACL looking to SISU to make infracstruce / regeneration investment? that would imply they don't have the funds to do it themselves.

Millennium Stadium is, I believe, set up as a multiuse stadium with partitioning available for smaller concerts and exhibitions and rarely gets used for that as there's no demand. hard to see what a space that big would be used for, taking on the NEC would be a risky game as they are very established and wouldn't take the fight lying down and may well be in a financial position to be more aggressive than ACL.

Why should ACL drop the rent? Why should they take the hit for SISU's naivety and incompetence?

SISU agreed to pay the fees and clearly didn't bother to agree any contingency plans for if we didn't get promoted (nevermind relegated!!) and that is just bad business.

I am sure the money that SISU owes has already been budgeted to be spent elsewhere by ACL so why should they have to re-juggle their books because the fuckwits signed a contract with such utter short sightedness it beggars belief.

Fuck SISU.
So just to be clear, you want the club to sell our best players and further reduce wages. You want the club to slide to league 2 and possibly go out of business because we are paying a rent we can't afford

But at least if we did, we can all proudly take the moral high ground of how we paid our rent

Cardiff City get by with 22 players (as quoted by Malchy MacKay) why do we have 37? That's where we are beng bled! The rent debate is a sideshow, though needs to be renegotiated to reflect our current position.

Imagine that Bellamy's wages would add up to about 22 of our squad!

They already go up against the NEC - they taken exhibitions and concerts from them already

All relative, they are top of the Championship, we are where we are. It's the size of our squad, how many other League 1 sides have a squad our size. Bellamy took a big pay cut to play for Cardiff.

How many of our fans on here were complaining about our small squad last season?

My Lord, we need quality, not quantity. 25 man squad should be sufficient. Fisher/Waggot should not have allowed so many new players in without shipping an equal amount out. That is the root of our present problem and it goes back a number of years.

Very true, though some would have it that Thorn only signed quality..

Its not really bullying its what they thinks right even 650k is massively over priced ! most championship teams pay 270k... we are not a championship team, 300k would possibly be over the top but fair for all partys!

Managing director let's say earning £100k salary. Something means he loses his job, but goes to work in a job with a salary of £30k (for whatever reason). Does he continue to pay his mortgage? Stop paying his mortgage? Move out? Become a squatter?
This is the kind of situation we have in simple terms. Just a few middle-men along the way confusing the issue really. Ultimately, if a man lives in a mansion during the good times but is not fabulously wealthy - he can't live in the mansion during bad times. So he either moves out, his debtors are VERY sympathetic & let you pay much less & can suffer the loss. However they may reach a point where they cannot continue themselves if the loss is too large.
CCFC is poor...can't afford the rent.

exactly my point.. we dont get any food sales drink sales car parking sales!
why should the club pay over 100k a month! just to play football there ! its not good enough especially when a season dont even last a year.

because they signed a contract saying they bloody would!!!!

I think what LG was saying is that they agreed to the payment and should have built a contingency plan in place or a clause in the agreement about if they club got relegated however clearly they didn't now they are trying to default on the payment. That is poor business.

No-one on this forum wants the club to go bust but to say ACL should just write this debt off is just silly.

Take those Sky Blue tinted glasses off for fucks sake!

SISU are playing hard ball to try and put the pressure on a charity and our council. The same people who bailed us out in the first place, yet due to SISU's complete an utter ineptiude you think that the charity and the council should suffer?

Only in football can a badly managed business do so fucking shit and people think they should get rewarded for it.

You honestly think that SISU aren't exploring every avenue possible to get out of this shit as soon as they can whilst taking the littlest hit possible? They have now refused to pay the rent, refused to pay discounted rent and now spin loads of shit out to make it look like they are the bad guys and gullible twats like you believe them.

This isn't ever going to end good but one way or another SISU need to go.

I do think a few people are getting carried away here. This is just some bloke talking on Talksport.

I remember Pompey constantly being read the last rites and told that they would soon be no more.

At the mo everything is just speculation.

I don't know.

The thought of seeing Lenny Henry live in concert is surely worse.

That and living next door to Timmy Mallett.

Cardiff have spent beyond their means for years with total impunity.

You are missing the point we have 37 man squad, they have significantly less and sit on top of the Championship

Our 37 man squad contains a very high proportion of kids and inexperienced young players. Cardiff pay obscene wages to attract a small squad of high quality. They have done it for years.

Yes I would rather the council and charity suffer rather than the club

I can understand why ACL are pissed off but frankly I couldn't care less, yea the club can't move forward whilst SISU is here imo but that isn't happening in the immediate future and the rent issue is. So that is what I am more focused on at this moment in time

If you said to me who do I want to pay for SISUs mistakes, ACL and the council or the football club. I would choose ACL and the council everytime without a second thought
It doesn't mean I think they should pay for them or it is right they should pay for them, but I couldn't care less

It isn't about rewarding SISU it is about the future of Coventry City Football Club

You should get off your moral high ground and try supporting the club

Companies have to write off debt all the time. ACL should have a contingency as much as anyone.

My company had to write off a debt from Ford Motor Company last year of £45,000, which is peanuts for a company of their size but it happens all the time. Big company defaults on payment and the cost of trying to win it back makes it impossible to challenge. Thats business. Its dangerous for any business model to rely too heavily on any one customer.

Oh dear.....I think you have a poor grasp on economics and business. A 20% drop in turnover would wipe out most businesses. You are making a lot of guesses and assumptions but the tenure of the argument you are admitting that they don't need the money and that the club is being ripped off. You are actually agreeing with Tim Fisher!!
you are so right, the misplaced speculation on here is frightening, comments about suitcases of money taken by previous directors, prove it or shut up, its not helpful. acl are a charity, they are not there to subsidise ccfc and if we are in the shit is because of poor results on the pitch that have led to one of the most fickle fan bases deserting the club in droves. Hell you have fans thinking that the five pound deal is great when all it does is put another nail in the coffin. it devalues the product and means that the club have less revenue to pay the rent. seriously we are part of the problem.
