Adam Buxton would be great, Jack Dee's name comes up a bit too. Ideally Vic Reeves too.

Rhod Gilbert was fantastic as the one who subverts all the tasks through the whole series

Yeah. Don't mind Rhod Gilbert. Always found him okay, but he was excellent on Taskmaster. Very clever too.

Some excellent shouts on potential contestants.

I've enjoyed all 7 series and usually I'd be bored of the format by now or suggesting it's contrived but simply not the case here. New contestants keep it fresh, but the real skill is Greg Davies' ability to present and the excellent Alex Horne for his writing skills. It appears he has a bottomless pit of ideas with regards to ridiculous things that he'll get them to attempt. If and when that get's exhausted is the only time I can see it failing or they could keep flogging this horse for a number of series yet.

Some good ideas.

I wouldn't choose Stephen K Amos either, but when I saw the line up for this series I wasn't looking forward to it but it turned out to be one of the best.
This show seems to be able to completely change your view on people you didn't necessarily like before.

I think Stephe K Amos is about as funny as a dose of herpes.
Sean Lock is a good shout.

Kevin Bridges?

Don't find Kevin Bridges that funny.

All about opinions, that's why I have duly edited your post.

You're welcome. ;)

Okay, so only nominating feasible candidates (those who are not too big that there's no chance), who would be in your best line up for series 9?

For me (and I am going for a mix and blend here, rather than just the five funniest people)

Danny Baker

Bill Bailey or Mickey Flanagan

Matt Edmondson (don't know much about him, but do find his Apprentice interviews really funny) or Miles Jupp

Tom Allen

Sarah Millican (I know we need a token woman and I was struggling a bit)

Hot damn! I forgot to put Reginald D Hunter in there.

Think he would be a brilliant fit for Taskmaster.

Eli’s James and John Robins are likely to be on it I reckon in the near future. Robins won Edinburgh best comedy show and is on the rise at the mo.

Would love to see Ayoade on it and David Mitchell or Robert Webb.

Rachel Parris might get a slot. If it wasn’t for the fact that Ellie Taylor is about to give birth I think she might’ve been picked as a contestant too.

David Mitchell would be fantastic.

Great shout on RDH. Don't know how he gets away with half of the stuff he does. Def one of my favourites but saying that been some real surprises. Last season for instance I knew I'd like Rhod Gilbert and James Acaster, but both the girls were an unexpected surprise and equally I was disappointed with Phil Wang who I thought would be good.

Yeah, Phil Wang was the weakest for me.

I always liked Kerry Godliman, but had no idea who Jessica Knappett even was.
