However if (IF! YES I KNOW IF!) somehow all this were genuine, I could buy into it as it would be trying to turn the club from basket case into... leather attache case?

I'd suggest the destruction of the club is most likely(!) but one way or another, at least we're moving away from the steady drip drip chinese water torture into a scenario of death or life.

And while painful now, that might ultimately be for the best.

I probably agree with that although where I differ is the description of the torture: we're waaaay beyond the Chinese water torture now, this season we are well and truly on the rack!

However, it is a genuine question - why wouldn't SISU sell rather than liquidate if there's a buyer available? (Edit: Apologies, but I can't quite get that from your previous posts - see earlier comment about being tired, maybe I'm misreading).

I entirely accept that if there's no one around that liquidation is the most likely outcome, but it seems that there is interest in club, even in our current straits.

Like many others, I don't believe there is a serious intention to build a new stadium. But let's indulge the fantasy and try and make sense of it.

What is the likely capacity of a new stadium likely to be? If it is less than about 20000 that shows a complete lack of ambition to eventually have a Premier League team. We surely must have some distant thoughts of doing so, unlike Shrewsbury or Rotherham, whose grounds were built with no expectation beyond a brief foray into the Championship at best. Yet 20000 would still be smaller than Highfield Road was.

Their problem is that, after 3 or more years away, crowds will still be woeful, and winning the lost ones back will be extremely difficult, given the lack of good faith and consideration from Sisu. If we are still in Div.3 I would anticipate that crowds at a new ground may be 5000 or so, or 8000 in the Championship. This still leaves a more than half-empty stadium. I would also say that the new stadium would not be likely to have much else going on, such as concerts, conferences, exhibitions etc. So having to build a stadium that size 'just in case' is not likely to go ahead. It makes less sense than the Ricoh did a decade ago.

God knows why anyone would think SISU can make the club profitable by moving us to a new stadium.

You all know that only a handful of Premier League clubs make a profit, right?

We don't have a future with SISU.

I've been to the New York stadium, it's great, a world away from most lower league new "flat packs" but only 12k capacity and the land was previously cheap long term wasteland. £20m to construct.

Another comparison would be the new St Helens stadium, this has an 18k capacity, not really big enough for you. It is a drab flat pack affair and cost (I believe) £25m to construct. After, St Helens were able to trade their asset, the original stadium for housing, for more wasteland/derelict factories giving a site for construction. This project was also financed by the attached supermarket.

I reckon you start at a figure for a new Coventry stadium at double the St Helens cost, then start guessing by much more it'd need, It'll never, ever, happen.

The solution is for all fans to stand together as one, be it going to Sixfields to the end of the season or boycotting Sixfields altogether.That will demonstrate the grip the fan base has on the future direction which currently does not exists.
Due to the bond CCFC has paid the FL they are commited to Sixfields to the end of the season so resolve is needed either way
Building a new stadium makes no financial sense and I doubt it will ever happern

The St Helens project was bankrolled by Tesco building a 140,000 sq ft (13,000 m2) Tesco Extra next to the rugby ground and a residential development of the existing St Helens RLFC site at Knowsley Road.

CCFC only has the land at Ryton to sell for redevelopment, perhaps part of the plan is to build houses there.. quite possible..

We are losing the next generation of fans. Young kids.

If things carry on as they are there wont be a fanbase in 3-5 years time if they carry on in Northampton. So this new stadium will be pointless.

A club is built on its fans no one can deny this. If you stab your hardcore fans in the back like SISU have done there is only 1 outcome.

A relationship between a club and its fans should be a 2 way thing. If the owners turn its back on its fans and move them away, no one can complain if the majority of fans turn its back on the club.

Which is whats happening with crowds of 1k, 2k.

SISU didn't pay a bond. They said they could cover losses and build a stadium. Yet clubs that admit to having cash flow problems have to pay a bond. Yet another misjustis by the FL.

For example the closest new ground to me is St Marys, in 12 years since it opened they have had 3 shows.

Those 3 concerts were when Rupert Lowe and his cronies were in charge. I'm led to believe that the current owners don't see concerts as a going concern for the club.
