Would be interested to know what happened to the White Lion on Gosford St. 3 x great grandad was the last publican for it I think
It was demolished in 1986 to make room for Sky Blue Way.

Despite its mock-Tudor appearance it was actually a post-war reconstruction, the original having been bombed along with the convent next door to it.

Always found The Earl of Mercia fine, especially with the real-ales and cheap prices.

Flying Standard, always felt a little uncomfortable, possibly due to the alch-ie clientele!?

Spon Gate, not enough Ales, plus a younger clientele, not much atmosphere.

See I've always been the other way round, must just be whichever you're used to.

He's a multi millionaire and he dresses like a tramp. Don't be such a snowflake.
My wife has no interest in politics and when I pointed out who he was she couldn't believe how scruffy he was.
Not being a snowflake at all, just interested to know why anyone would refer to someone by their political opinion.
To refer to someone by their, colour, race, or sexuality, would be totally unacceptable. So why single him out as a “Brexitier”
If he is a millionaire and looks like a tramp, why not just say that, what has Brexit got to do with anything?

I thought it was apt. And still do.

He’s chosen to politicise his microwave pubs with his magazines on the tables and inferiority complex about uni graduates. Funny though that he deferred shelving EU beers until after we left

Ffs, so by your reasoning we can start referring to people by their colour or sexuality or physical handicap can we?
And I thought we had all moved on from those days!
If ever the phrase “you cant argue with stupid” was ever relevant it’s now after reading your posts.

For somebody who's quick to call others looney left and remoaners, you seem remarkably touchy on this issue.

Lol, I love it when a snowflake melts.

You're happy to use the term remoaner but equate using the term Brexit tramp as the equivalent of a racist, sexist or anti disabled slur?
Get a grip.

Because political ideology (and dress sense) is a choice and therefore fair game whereas sex, race and sexuality aren’t. Happy to help.

I gathered it had been knocked down, I was just trying to gather what happened to it in the first half of the century.
The only name of a licensee I can find is some called Arthur Hands. That was around 1912.

It was in The Bull Ring, just below Butcher Row before both were redeveloped as Trinity Street. So pretty much in exactly the same place as The Flying Standard is now.

There is a subtle difference, whenever I’ve used the term looney left or remoaners, it’s been in a thread referring to Brexit, or eu politics in general, (or a jovial put down, in a response to an incoming jibe)
Hence it’s relevant.
But when you start referring to people by their politics outside of that context, it becomes an issue. (Especially now the Brexit argument is largely decided)
As I’ve said it’s a subtle difference, and needs a certain level of intellect to grasp it.

And fwiw, I’m not at all touchy about it. It actually made me chuckle. But I thought I’d point it out, in the spirit of “brexit isover, let’s move forward now”.’

And, I didn’t raise to the “snowflake” comment from Van damme as it’s so wide of the mark to be hilarious.

You're right Brexit has largely been decided and we will now be stuck with whatever crap the Tories choose to make of it. Like denying children refugees rights tonight.

Still the other fatso knows what he's doing eh

Article about it being refurbed in the CET.

Why is the bit in bold relevant?

"
When’s the refurbishment taking place?
The Flying Standard will be closed to customers on March 9 to 13 – reopening just in time for Coventry City’s fixture against Shrewsbury on Saturday, March 14 and St Patrick’s Day on March 17.

p:nth-of-type(6)","type":"performPlaceholder","relativePos":"after"}' data-response-start="1764.8968" data-placeholder-placeholder="">
The upstairs of the pub will be getting a full makeover, with more seating available, plus there’ll be a rooftop terrace.
