Being pulled at the end of the year

Boxing day and next few weeks, the show isn't on due to budget reasons

Good. Tbf it was better than ITV's The Championship, but that was the only decent thing to say about it. You can watch the goals on the BBC website.

Really pissed me off!
Just think off some of the tripe they have on, and a show that is watch by 2million, is to get axed.

Bit of a shame for many people I guess, but i'm not too fussed personally as I just watch the goals on the BBC website.

I certainly won't miss it! The handful of times I watched it, they never showed or talked much about Cov anyway. Too bloody biased for my liking. I'm of the opinion that "The Football League" is just that - meaning ALL clubs, not just a select few week in, week out. Good riddance! :jerkit:

First Formula 1 then the Football League show.
I'm not a fan of the latter, but budget reasons basically means "We spent too much on the Olympics". Their cutting all the sports they can for the sake of two weeks (I like the olympics, but i just prefer my F1 and Footie).

Erm, that's why its called The Football League Show. It features ALL clubs in the Football League, not just City (and why should they be obsessed about a under performing Championship team anyway?)

There is always Goals On Sunday on Sky.

BBC's three year contract was coming to an end this season? I wonder which channel will pick up the rights (if any) next season?

Yeah, if you have Sky.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather ITV get the highlights instead of Sky, at least then the majority of fans would be able watch it. Channel 5 would also be a good choice, they've got plenty of Football broadcast experience now and are due to lose the Europa League rights from next season, perhaps the League highlights would be a good replacement?

Hopefully the web highlights won't be placed behind yet another paywall.

Never liked the show to be honest.
Not because they did not show cov all the time or whatever, just think it is such a false show.
Claridge trying to look remotely interested in what Manish was saying then whatever her name was reading text's just has a very cheap apperance to it in my opinion, although was nice to see the 30 second's of our match but always knew we would not get much of a mention but then we are struggling so were not going to be a prominant feature on the show.

They dropped the 'reading text' bit since the show's return this season.

Channel 5 would love 2 million on a sat night. Get it on BEFORE match of the day and they will have a winner !!

This is a disgrace. I can only hope that a campaign similar to that which saved 6 Music gets the BBC to see sense. Maybe if they cut a few bureaucratic management tiers they may be able to afford programmes that their licence payers want?

It's just another nail in non-Premiership footballs coffin, though. I don't give a crap about the quality of presentation; I just want to be able to see all the lower league goals and a few highlights. I don't have SKY, and used to watch TFLS 2-3 times each week. I am massively p'd off!

Sorry pal, but I'm a Coventry City fan through and through. I don't give a flying fuck what other teams are doing. It's been my choice to move away from the depressing metropolis of Coventry itself, but I still follow my club. If they are under-achieving, then perhaps programmes like this should do more in the way of highlighing their problems - asking questions why etc - not just sweeping them under the carpet. The power of the media is massive - I know - I'm ex-BBC.
Yes, I still like to watch all football, but deep down, I am a COVENTRY CITY fan and have been for just on 50 years! I am not asking the show to be "obsessed" about us. Just fair viewing and equal coverage would be nice.

One look at our average attendance would tell them that focusing on Coventry City wouldn't pull in the viewers. I'm amazed we're not the last game before the League One roundup each week.

The rights have been offered to TWO terrestrial broadcasters for next to nothing, they've turned them down:

Can't blame them - they'll have put up the expense of filming every game, only for Sky to broadcast the highlights first on SSN and for someone else to grab the web highlights.

In an ideal world, there would be a Football League channel, produced by the FL and available to ALL broadcasting platforms - there was talk of a Premier League channel a while ago, so why not one for the FL, which provides 4 times the clubs, 3 times the entertainment and half the egos involved?

something that's never made sense to me is only having late kick off run half the season, i'd prefer that all year over the football league show.

Its on after the game.

Yeah saw Stelling yesterday, very cheeky of him!

As for Hansen, Shearer and Crisp Man, thats why I rarely watch MOTD no more. Crap 'golf club boys' punditry. Sky have Gary Neville who despite has been doing the same job for less than a year, is streets ahead.
