I've been slow to criticise SP, one never knows what is happening behind the scenes. However I simply cannot imagine the result yesterday without the change of manager. I wasn't there but have heard accounts that it is the best we have played for months.

I really cannot see this being a step change in our fortunes: our owners don't seem to have much ambition on the pitch and I wonder when their investors will decide that enough is enough - possibly after the latest court case fails. However I do think that Mowbray will steer us clear of relegation this season.

I think if we play every game like we did yesterday and keep creating chances we will be fine.

You could tell from the start how the team was set out we weren't playing for a draw. ie against Bradford we had 3 on the halfway line in the final minutes to go for the win. Pressley would have everybody back inviting pressure.

Agreed. I'd doubt very much we'd have won that game with Pressley in charge. imho.

Agree Samo - though results bring confidence, and having a couple with pace(Samuel and Odelusi), plus Nouble must give the rest of the players (as average as they are) hope that if they dig in, we may get something from the game. It must always be that bit more disheartening battling away if you don't think you are capable of putting it away up front. I'll feel far more confident when we finally sort out our midfield.

It was an away game, so to be expected to an extent. At no point were we behind or losing control of the game. We had a game plan and executed it. At no point were we chasing the game and we were able to soak up pressure and hit on the counter with pace.

If you look at the stats for our home game vs Scunthorpe you may come to the conclusion that we dominated and were unlucky, but everyone who was there would tell you that Scunthorpe were comfortable and we never looked like equalising until a long ball over the top.

Was the new boy the difference between this performance and our midweek game?

Would we have been able to secure his services with SP still here? Was having TM here the difference for his club accepting a loan to us?

Which all makes you wonder if Suxfields wasn't the only stumbling block in securing first choice signings, loans or permanent? I really don't mean any disrespect to SP when I say this. It's more a case of TM being in a better position to call in favours or at least being higher up the list when it comes to dishing out favours?

City were mostly comfortable throughout. In fact it was Chesterfield who had had the largest slice of luck as their equaliser took a massive deflection.

The bottom 2 are probably as good as down so its 2 out of 6. All apart from Crewe have a game in hand and a better goal difference.

Well it's best to keep expectations low, Samo, I agree. However I do think we have turned a corner. We now have some attacking bite with the players SP brought in during January and with Mowbray we also have a bit more nous. I think we'll stay up.

So now you have realised that SP was the problem maybe you will realise that our new manager knows what he is doing. It isn't how much you have the ball but it is what you do with it.

SISU have done the right thing by getting rid of SP and bringing in TM. Just a shame they didn't do it a bit earlier. SP's ineptness has shown clearly for ages. I think we will finish mid table. We will get the results we should have been getting all season.

SISU are at fault for signing SP. But how can you say that they lack ambition when they let him sign so many players and changed managers which will have cost them money? They need to do their best to keep TM. Next season would be fun. Nearly all our players will be gone as hardly any will be under contract. TM would be able to bring in his own squad. And he has the ability to go up from the Championship as well as Division 3.

Although i am backing Mowbray 200% I think many are taking the opportunity to jump on the back of SP so lets face facts - The last game SP was in charge we were 2-0 at Sheffield Utd and coasting- Saturday we were 3-1 up and coasting- Chesterfield pulled it back to 3-2 and Burge made the save of the match in injury time which then would have made it a draw the same as Sheffield utd - so imagining the result would have been any different with SP in charge is maybe unfair to SP and wide of the mark

Should never have been in trouble this season anyhow......the players have collectively & individually under-achieved in a big way........I hope their lack of performance is reflected in a vastly reduced bonus pot at the end of the season....

Now that was a great escape in 1984-1985, winning 1-0 at Stoke when they missed a penalty in the last minute or so, beating Luton 1-0 at home with Killer scoring the winner in the 84th minute, and then beating the Champtions Everton 4-1 at home, when Regis finally rediscovered his shooting boots.

Have been some close calls in the past, as said the three wins in a row in 1985, Leicester pissing all over Stoke to only draw, then there was us winning at Spurs, last game while Sunderland slipped up at Wimbledon, Norwich hitting the inside of the post v Norwich, last minute, then go right back to 1967/68 when we got a 0-0 at Southampton and Sheffield United lost 2-1 home to Chelsea with a very late Chelsea winner. I often wonder where we would be now had any of those results gone the wrong way.

You've kind of answered your own question there. Keen to know what you mean by 'TM being in a better position to call in favours'? Because he brought in someone from the Premier League?

SP brought in Pennington from Everton and that lad from Arsenal (who hardly played for us, granted). As the loan market has proven to be a bit of a lottery for many teams, I'd want to wait to see some more of TMs signings before making such a judgement.

Those ones were great. Vague memories of the Norwich season, remember better the three wins in a row, took proper interest the season after (needed to win 2 of the last 3).

They had alot of possesion first half but were very wasteful and we played them on the counter ,we actually created the best chances and took them .
Not to mention a dubious dissalowed goal .
The two attempts in injury time couldve seen the game end all square but we are turning defence into attack pretty nice now .
Wheras before we were so slow getting forward .

If you were there you are better placed to judge than I am. But... If you concede 15 corners and 17 shots you are lucky to win any game.

To be fair ..the biggest piece of LUCK came when chesterfield deflected goal went in .
