Often wondered this. I have family working in HR. Why can't we performance manage Managers/Players like in any other job and then dismiss them legally through poor performance without needing to pay them?
Why do you always read managers contracts need to be paid out in full when they are dismissed? (i.e. Potter & Ten Hag)
What is it that makes footballers different? because dismissal through performance is legal, and we'd only have to pay them statutory pay (a week or so) to do so?
Infact, noone has employment rights for circa 2 years, so legally why can we not just tell some of the team to do one? (Hillsner in years gone by for example)
Assume it's additional protection that's worded into contracts etc. But does all seem abit mad.
Output. (points), plenty of measurable metrics/data now days (distance covered on pitch signifying effort) application during training etcetcHow on earth would you define performance?
There’s no way it’d stand up against legislation. It’s also subjective and there are too many caveats.Output. (points), plenty of measurable metrics/data now days (distance covered on pitch signifying effort) application during training etcetc
It’s not quite as simple as that.and legally the first 2 years we wouldn't have to prove anything anyway. Legally we could sack them all (theoretically) for free

Oh I understand how it works. It’s where we lack a good leader to knock a few heads together and tell them to stop being such ridiculous playground prats.you clearly don’t get how it works behind the scenes do you?
players work better as a team. we have no togetherness anymore
pretty clear to see and the relationship between players and fans has changed too
If you don’t think the two are linked to how a team performs then you are mistaken
never did we used to see players bicker on the pitch
this season we’ve seen it almost every game including yesterday
I mean unless they are disabled etc (debatable on current performance) then it literally doesIt’s not quite as simple as that.
Thought that may be itNo the contracts they sign prohibit that
The thing is you don’t really sack a manager in football the same way you sack me or you for instance.Often wondered this. I have family working in HR. Main issue is lack of senior players/captain
Sexton was brilliant...tbh he's the only Manager I was really upset to see get sacked...he stayed in the area for the rest of his life (Kenilworth). And the lack of good youth team players breaking through into the first team.
Those who are old enough will remember the days when Dave Sexton was the manager, we had some cracking young players breaking through into the first team, just don't see these days.
Been looking on wiki, Sexton was in charge of England U21 for 15 years including the time he was Man Utd and later Cov manager. More surprisingly there is a building in Kenilworth where he lived for many years that bears his name. And the lack of good youth team players breaking through into the first team.

And he had a certain John Sillett as youth team manager. And the lack of good youth team players breaking through into the first team.
