Jennings and Barton were awful today. Thats the centre of our midfield, giving the ball away all the time. Thank Christ Connor Thomas is back to (near) fitness.

Both have been good in previous games.

Barton was really poor today though and arguably could have prevented both goals.

I honestly believe that with a decent manager who knows his tactics, we will have a decent midfield. Barton, Jennings, Thomas, Fleck are all top midfielders IMO. They are just being played incorrectly. Thought we'd got rid of that once Thorn went I.e his dealings / handling of Bigi.

That coupled with Bell and Baker who should cope in league one (not that Baker has done much bar the Brum game). Kilbane can have a good game even though I think we've overplayed him (whether he's captain or not)

Yep. It's bad management - not bad players. The Yeovil Manager would gladly swap squads.

4-4-2 doesn't suit us, evident today in the midfield

Good point no one seemed to have a clue today, it seemed to me that there was no space to play any kind of creative ball, unlike the 1st half against Bury where the diamond worked perfectly.

I think the problem is we've been starved of watching good players for so long when a new player comes in makes a couple of passes and has a shot this classes as good game. Barton and Jennings have had an okay game between them in the league and that's the reality. I think we've forgotten what good actually looks like.

Barton is very average. Good tekkers but he's the sort of footballer a team with promotion aspirations would/should sign. A promotion side doesn't have passengers.

I wouldn't call him a passenger. I get where you're coming from because he does amble around the pitch sometimes. But he's got plenty of quality and deserves his place in the side. Capable of some bits of magic as well - the goal against Bury and extremely unlucky not to wrap up our goal of the season award on the opening day when he hit the bar from 25 yards.

Sorry but that was the worst Cov Midfield I've ever seen. Can't blame Shaw for Barton and Jennings being useless

For whatever reason today we lost the game from midfield ,a perfectly good disallowed second goal ,a guilt edged one yard finish into the side netting from the Edge, think we need Fleck at the tip.More interestingly the team or certain members of it have professed they want Shaw to get the job ,which is patently untrue given the level of effort displayed.

I don't doubt his quality on the ball, it's his desire, commitment and work rate off the ball I'm on about and in this department he is a passenger. Gerrard, lampard, mata, modric, Rooney, etc all produce on and off the ball.

Two great strikers (1 a goal) but either at blame or partially at blame for 4-5 goals we've conceded this season.
