Trial by SKY!! if that wasn't a live game nothing would have come from it, so I would hope CCFC go through every decision from now on and complain if any go against us. The ref was looking straight at it from behind on the replay, and didn't think it was a dive so what action will be taken against him and the lino for getting it "wrong"
What do they get paid?
They pretty much are protected, what else do they need protecting against? Half time the stewards escort them off. Never have to explain their decisions.

At the top end, Premier League referees are salaried so they get paid a regular wage with match fees on top of that. Referees in the top-flight of England can earn as much as £70,000 per year. They are paid a basic yearly retainer of between £38,500 and £42,000 based on experience, and then are paid £1,150 per match on top of that.
Championship referees receive the same basic yearly retainer but are only paid £600 per game.
Too quick for me38-42000 a year retainer bonus plud £600 a match
A lot higher than I was expecting it to be in all honesty. Looking at the PGMOL site its stretching the definition of full time to its limit. Apart from the actual games they have two days training every fortnight, at Warwick University of all places.Hardly a pittance, is it?

I thought most of them had full time jobs anyway?
It's a massive bugbear of mine when you see an assistant look at the ref for instruction of which way to flag when the ball has gone out right next to him. You have a better view, get your flag up and do your job.
Two teams spend 90 minutes trying to con the ref into giving an incorrect decision (by appealing for throws that obviously came off them last, by diving for penalties when there is no contact, etc). Then, when the ref eventually falls for one of these cons ( as the player does it so well that in real time it looks convincing ) we are asking for the ref to be punished? Crazy!
Assistant's are told not to give some decisions because it could undermine the referee so they look to the referee who will indicate which way to flag
Related to the Trial by TV comments, this may be of interest. On the FA website, under their DISCIPLINE section, they do list penalties against footballers, staff and clubs.
This one from the first day of the season may bring back some memories. Note it says a breach of Rule E1.1. Goddens is a breach of rule E3 which Google interprets as Foul and Abusive language towards an official. Can't find anything on the Internet about E3 but Simulation falls under the FA Law 12. Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct

A lot done at efl level is through microphone and buzzers so it looks like they don’t but they doSo what's the point of them if they're just there to validate the ref's decision.
If they've seen something they should be there to tell the ref's they've got it wrong. That's helping the ref get to the right decision, not undermining them.
Last couple of posts I read have pretty much summed this situation up. Trial by Sky ? Could well be. We've had pens given for less and have seen worse charades against us. But because of the media spectacle and the numerous camera angles, the FA couldn't be seen to have ignored an intentional effort to cheat.
Blackpool away this season. Was Viks goal handball or a bounce off his head. Sky took several occasions to make up their mind. Ref has one. But from the only angle viewed, it was inconclusive. Any action against Vik ? Nope.
It will happen again, for and against us but when there is only 1 camera on a gloomy January evening away at Preston (or wherever) and we're lucky to be on standard definition on Sky's red button, nothing will happen as it's not as in-your-face. Fulham losing was back page of the papers so we were always going to be charged.
Hardly a pittance, is it?
Another smart arse answer in my day it was foul it attempt to foul, Has it changed ? Perhaps it has I’m sure you’ll knowThought you refereed before? That’s what you told me anyway
Well there could be options if it’s found against Godden. FA are the ruling body in our football when it comes to disciplinary but not necessarily the final stage. Cases can be appealed to UEFA if I was defending this case I’d make it quiet clear that could be the road we go down. Because the on going kick back from this could be huge.SISU need the lawyers on this one, take the FA to judicial review!!!

Or we could just play our first choice striker against Blackburn.
Are you saying we shouldn’t then if the case goes against Godden ?On what grounds would you lodge an appeal?
Shut up you’re showing yourself up again.Or we could just play our first choice striker against Blackburn.
