It's not that bad. Two weeks now to recover with a lot more sunlight will be massive.

Yes might have been saving on the energy for those lamps, maybe when they get the floodlights in the can ask the sparky for a few gratis racks?

Seen the UV’s lighting up the ground every morning but one this last two weeks. They’re obviously fighting a losing battle. The corners and 6 yard boxes in particular.

It's mainly the areas where they do warm ups. The area off the pitch towards the FZ is really bare now. They would be better sending the subs the other way for a few weeks, to give it a breather.

Main part of the pitch is fine in comparison to most other champo pitches.

It was particularly bad in corner - was like they’ve driven a plough across it - can see the ‘thread’ where it’s meshed into the hybrid stuff.
needs some sun doesn’t it.

Nothing wrong with it. It’s Feb.

All champ pitches struggling.

They’ve invested money in it, it’s well built and reinforced. Even as it loses grass it’ll play as it should.

No offence Mr Groundsman but it was dreadful the whole length of the pitch along the West stand.

Must be a dull men’s club as I thought the same. Better than hillsborough though.
why is it that championship pitches are in “worse” condition compared to premier league clubs? Villa for example play champions league football too, and theirs seems superior. Is it down to groundsman, the quality of pitch initially laid?

Imagine it’s a combination of the games played (including league cup and FA cup games) and less funds available to the groundskeepers

If only there was a good reason that the subs all warm up at that end…

Just look back at some of the mid-winter pictures of the Highfield Road pitch, and be grateful.
I recall the day Ernie Machin went missing, presumed dead, for hours. 😉

Lino’s have to be on the left back side, never the right back side. Them’s the laws

Possibly weather related with the lack of sunshine this winter but then I gather we use those lamps.
Other local grounds, admittedly Premier League clubs look great so is finance and workmanship the issue?
The pitches look great at Ryton and yet they are used more than at the CBS and they are totally exposed to the elements over there.
It would be good to pose the question at any future meetings with the club.

The pitches at Ryton don't have large stands around them

Yes I know Monty hence my reference to lack of sunlight these last few months is/could be a contributory factor at the CBS.
Having said that though, other stadia have large stands built around them and the condition of the pitches there are not in the same state as ours.
Listen, I'm no expert in the care and tending of playing surfaces, I'm only too aware that it's a subject way above my understanding I'm merely pointing out that our pitch isn't looking great in comparison to others be it Prem or EFL right now.

If you watch the highlights of the Swansea game from yesterday their pitch looks far better than ours and they're in Wales and we know how much sunlight they get and don't they play Rugby on there as well or have they stop that now?

They're obviously doing something that we're not and my guess is heat lamps.

The CBS has had plenty of UV assistance recently. It’s been on every day recently.

Ok then, how do you explain how some pictures in the championship are in better condition than ours?

Not a great and fair comparison I know but I'm watching the match on the TV from the Etihad right now and the pitch looks absolutely magnificent.

Has to be the budget right? Once you hit the Prem you have enough money to cover the pitch in those artificial lights rather than just one area at a time.

There's usually a fair few lights on. They are usually in the car park on match day and the ground is lit up on non match days.

There's loads of them

Yes you are right, must cost a lot of money to keep them going 24 hours a day because I presume that's how long you would need them lights on for the grass to keep growing.
