Said I would not go again and give them any more of my money but I was offered a 'Free Ticket' as my brothers mate has a season ticket but was away (lucky sod)...so off I went..
Turnstile didn't work ,paper tickets OK but S/T didnt!
As I had been given a freebie I was feeling generous and got a round in..Bargain only £12.50 for 2 bottles of warm beer and 2 bottles of equally warm pop.made my way to my seat and watched possiblly the worst 45 minutes of football I can remember with the only respite being when the woman behind me pushed her feet into my back.....deep joy! During all this the Scoreboard kept flashing up the 'Together we are proud,together we will rise again' message...are they taking the p*ss? The 2nd half started slowly but then the mini revival saw a good goal dissallowed (shit happens) and a well taken goal with some decent attacking play all round..happy days...then normal service was resummed with us dropping deeper and deeper and allowing them as much possession as they wanted..AT did nothing to change it for 20 minutes then he was going to bring on Jedwood Willis but...too late,the equaliser nearly everyone in the ground could see coming arrived!!
another 10 minutes of dross followed and then we made our way to the car park where we all sat until 10.15 because unlike any other football ground in the country we won't empty the car parks until all the pedestrian fans are at home and safe....I felt short changed and I got in for free..Well fair play to you who will continue to go but it's not for me:wave::wave::wave:

You should write them a letter. Don't hold your breath waiting for a reply, or anyone else giving a shit about your 'Experiance' though chap.

Great post, i feel your pain, but supporters of EVERY club experience the same things and emotions. The trick is to ride the not so good times out and get behind the team as best you can. That's what being a supporter is all about. The glory days are few and far between afterall. It's ok to be disillusioned, just don't turn your back completely.

We all know the prices of tickets/beer/food arent for most of our budgets, but the only necessary thing is the ticket, anything else is a want; you're the mug willing to pay for it.

I've been to the Arena 4 times since moving to Coventry from Australia 11 months ago. I've not once waked away with an opinion like yours. Probably because im not walking in expecting to be blown away.

You know that feeling you got when Elliott turned the defender and then stuck the ball in the back of the net? That should be worth the entrance fee. If not, stop going.

or maybe because you have only seen them in the last 11 months you have nothing to compare it with.....

I think some people complicate things. Football's a great game because of it's simplicity. Sometimes i don't know what people expect to get from an afternoon at the football.

If you're talking about drawing comparisons with 'then and now' premier league coventry and today, you have got me stumped. But wow it must have been good. Each seat must have come with a blowjob and the pints must have been a pence a dozen.

With relegation, what were you expecting? Don't have such high expectations. If it was Xmas and we were dragging along at the foot of table, I might probably agree with you. I'm a Cov rugby fan (too) and I'm grateful that the Ricoh was offered to the rugby club when they were locked out of the butts. I had an unforgettable night - it could have all ended - it didn't but it has for clubs like Rugby lions. A 'rich' new owner, one season unbeaten and league champions - the next, liquidation. Boom to bust doesn't work. My point, you stick by the football club and be careful what you wish for. Cov fc will be back. 'Man up' as you say and support them.

Thanks for sharing..I've been following City since I was a little kid (I'm now 20). One of my earliest CCFC memories was when we played Newcastle in September 1998, I'd gone for my birthday with some friends. We took a 1 nil lead through boateng, before my false optimism (an all too common a feeling) was dashed as Newcastle responded with five unanswered goals..we lost 5-1. I went to the game yesterday and I can say with absolute honesty that the nervous, excited feeling I get, is the same as it was when I watched us play Newcastle 14 years ago.
I've seen two relegations and only one top 10 finish since, but I've also seen us beat United at Old Trafford, beat Arsenal at Highfield Road and watched as Dele Adebola went past Blackburn defenders like a hot knife through butter.
For you to feel that disillusioned with the club that you support, then I am truly sad for you.

Win or lose premier league or conference id be there.

Great post.

For me the fleeting moments of unbridled joy (whl 97, highbury 93, huckerby v man u 97, wembley, westwoods last min pen save v wolves 09??) make it all worthwhile. Those moments will live with me forever and no matter how rare they are there will be more to come.

Beer and pop are meant to be consumed at room temperature [this really is not worthy of the adjective "warm"].
Hate it when I am served either very cold as the drink is both tasteless and painful to drink.

To be fair I m not interested in feeding my face or the whole modern way of watching football I m just interested in the football itself.Much as I miss hr and standing up and the old school footy thing it's gone and it's not coming back
I never once stood on the kop and thought "what I need is an overpriced beer, a bar of chocolate, a casino, a bookies and a load of people bugging me with a charity bucket

I remember Westwood last minute penalty save..vs Ebanks-Blake as well who was top scorer at the time, live for those moments!

My night consisted of meeting friends and family in the Greyhound at Sutton Stop, having a few nice beers by the canal and a decent quality meal. After parking for a reasonable £4 we walked up the scenic route to the best stadium in our division and probably the one above. Took our seats which offer a fantastic view{ As do any in the Ricoh}. Yes the first 45 minutes was a nerve ridden affair with 5 players making their home debuts but having had a lager and a chat at half time with another set of Sky Blues who I know from out of town, settled down to watch a good half of football, the atmosphere picked up and I came away looking forward to the next match. Quick hop back down to the car park and back home by 10.20..........and thats in SW Leics !!............... Whats your problem???
