oThere would have been a reason for it.
Something will probably follow.

So this isn't a new development nor is it legal action?

That anger will always remain for the majority of supporters no matter what. That ship has sailed. No it's a complaint made in Feb but there is overdrive about it.
Can only assume we will hear more and something else will come out which is why everybody needed to be angry at SISU.
Also, as Sisu correctly highlighted (I’m not a sisu apologist!), wasps were able to negotiate previously when ‘legals’ were underway...what’s changed? So why are Wasps so adamant there can be no talks while there are on-going legals? Even if they are involved then trying to prevent the legal process means something is seriously amiss.

Sky are saying talks have collapsed because the European Commission is now investigating the complaint.

Fake news - it hasn't been "blocked by European Commission" at all! It is one party's attitude that may have blocked CCFC's returnCoventry City's proposed Ricoh Arena return blocked by European Commission
All the optimism gone within the space of 24 hours. Fuck every party involved in destroying our football club

So basically the same rubbish Gilbert has put out and nothing they've confirmed for themselves. No reason the complaint to the European Commission made in February should cause talks that have been going on for the last three weeks.Sky are saying talks have collapsed because the European Commission is now investigating the complaint.

As far as I'm concerned if Wasps & the council are putting this out there as a reason for talks collapsing its a clear indicator that the reality is a good chunk of the blame lies with them. After all if the real reason for talks collapsing but the blame squarely on SISU there would be no reason to spin this rubbish.
Sisu are trying to keep legals going but without legals continuing it seems
Wouldn't be the first time either. You have to wonder if Wasps were ever serious about entering negotiations with CCFC as so far they've clearly employed stalling tactics by regularly moving the goalposts when talks were actually progressing. Putting my tin foil hat on slightly but it wouldn't surprise me if they've saved using the European Commission investigation as a scapegoat to put an end to the negotiations if CCFC refused to bend the knee to their terms.
So, it's a complaint direct to the European Commission about whether the council acted against EU law. This isn't a court case, so no further legal costs to any party. Reading the blurb on the EC site, there's no way to claim damages other than via national courts, and as it stands that route has been exhausted.
The risk here would seem to be to the Council directly, being exposed as failing to follow EU law. Maybe if the Commission found that true, SISU could start another case in the courts for damages against CCC but that seems a very long way away, and with an even slimmer chance of Wasps being directly impacted.
The truth here as I see it, is that there's nothing stopping Wasps agreeing a short-term deal whilst this plays out. Unless of course, they want to protect the Council by blackmailing SISU to withdraw the complaint.
To me, it seems obvious that the Council and Wasps are in an unhealthy co-dependent relationship, that at the very least implies that the Council will risk public funds and bend various laws to ensure that Wasps do not fail, and in return Wasps will pressure SISU to drop a legitimate complaint against a public body.
Executive summary: It stinks, and the club and the fans suffer.
Question to Wasps needs to be if they knew SISU had complained to the EC when they entered negotiations? If SISU didn't tell them, then that was a bit fucking silly.
I'm going to hazard a guess that SISU take their legal advise from lawyers and legal experts rather than football fans :woot:You do have to wonder who's advising them, as whether they have a legitimate case or not the legals are clearly a lost cause.
Naive to think they haven't been since the start.
True, but you've got to admit it seems like they're willing to have a punt at anything, out of spite as much as anything!I'm going to hazard a guess that SISU take their legal advise from lawyers and legal experts rather than football fans :woot:
