Well that's your opinion.

Personally I think its pathetic to base your life around a 3rd division football club.

But it is cool as anything to go onto a forum of a 3rd division football club all the time to defend a rugby club and a council. Why would you do that then?

Are you suggesting that only those that agree with your views should be allowed to post?

I would never watch a rugby match, personally, and certainly not at the expense of watching City, but I can understand why people would defect. I just wish the owners of our club were remotely fussed because then they might actually do something about it. Alas we know they couldn't give a monkeys.

I think the original poster is saying the matchday experience is better at the Butts.

Football in general needs to up its game on that issue, the plastic overpriced beer and food being a good part of the problem.

Also, I can't understand why there is no attempt to sell food & drink from the aisles, you know those tray vendors, is it down to some safety regulation nonsense?

What are you talking about now? Are you just plucking random things out of the air now?

It wasn't me saying it was pathetic for people to base their life around a 3rd division football team. To which I asked does it make it ok to spend hours going onto a 3rd division football team defending other parties.

Where in that does it say people can't have their views and post them?

Calling somebody pathetic for going to watch a rugby match.

Ah but calling somebody a wanker isn't pretty much exactly the same?

Like I said, there are probably much better quotes from RFC that you could reply that to and he would probably agree.

It's a forum for people who support the same club-talking in favour of those who've helped shaft it is just a bit odd.

Ok. I will be sure to PM you all my rantings in future for you to approve the content before I post them.

So he can't call someone pathetic, but you can call someone a wanker?

Calling somebody pathetic for going to watch a rugby match.

Although I think fair play to anybody supporting local teams, I am not too sure why people come onto a football forum to go on about how they went to a Rugby match?

I was anticipating your usual vapid nonsense Nick. Tell me what part of my post is not relevant to CCFC and it's current situation? The uncomfortable truth is too much for some.

I never accused you of running the forum in a dictatorial way, just in that post that is how it sounded.

You suggested that I "Spend all my time defending a rugby club and the Council".

That comes across as though the content of my postings are not suitable for this forum.

It didn't sound like that at all? Only to you maybe.

I just find it strange how you would find it pathetic people love CCFC and their life revolves around it, I am pretty sure there are still some like that yet you spend hours on here? Not that you aren't welcome to share your point, as everybody is. I just don't understand it?

I don't think its strange that people love the club. For a start those are the sort of people that keep it going. I am not one myself, but I respect those that are.

That comment I made was only in retaliation to RFC's rather offensive remark about those who choose to go to the rugby.

As for spending hours on here, its addictive I guess. Its a boring Sunday afternoon, and there's nothing on TV.

I said it was odd not that it should be censored off the website.

Having a different opinion isn't odd. None of us share all the same opinions.

The whole point of this forum is to present different arguments and viewpoints. I try to argue my points in a civilised way and respect others that do as well. Although I admit I probably sometimes fail on that front, as we all do on here from time to time.

I never thought the day would come when I’d choose to watch Cov Rugby at The Butts on the same day CCFC were playing at home. That day came yesterday and I have absolutely no regrets.

The game had everything you want to see from a sporting spectacle and I’ve never felt so proud of my home city since we lifted the cup in 87.

A rip-roaring hard fought game with passion, commitment and desire from both sides, the lead swung to and fro until a thunderous finish from Cov. It was a breathtaking performance against the odds and against a fully professional Ealing outfit. The team spirit of Cov made me immensely proud and that played a huge part in inflicting Ealing’s first loss of the season.

The excitement throughout the game is something that I’ve not felt when watching the football for a very, very long time. It’s exactly what I want do get out of a sporting match day experience.

Furthermore, it is an absolute pleasure to be able to buy a pint at pub prices, and be able to freely walk around the stadium with it and mix and talk with opposing fans. No police, no brainless stewards that have no ability to think or are capable of making decisions and no rip-off catering, everything that spoils match day experience at football games.

I can only imagine the game against Walsall was a dour, turgid goal-less bore draw. I can imagine myself sitting there feeling utterly dejected with what I would be seeing. Contrast that to yesterday’s rubgy when I’ve never felt so enthusiastic or been so animated.

Until there are signs that the quality of football and entertainment value improve with CCFC, then its Cov Rugby from me now on. At £15 a pop, there’s no comparison.

We don’t have a fixture next Saturday and I would seriously recommend anyone at a loose end to get themselves down to The Butts next Saturday when Cov Rugby host high flying Fylde.

We went to Twickenham yesterday and next Saturday will be the Butts. Sounded like a great game against a very strong team.

While I get where you're coming from it's not something I could do personally. I support CCFC (not saying you don't!) and no one else, so I would find it impossible to go and do something else when I know I could be watching my team. I'm sure I would see more exciting football, fantastic players and brilliant goals if I went to see a Premiership game. However, it wouldn't be Coventry City so it wouldn't be for you.

Good luck to you and all that, but it's CCFC for me, no matter how you feel. I see you could "imagine" what is was like without actually being there too. Nice trick.

Torch, it's all about personal choice. The only Football team I follow is Coventry City, no interest in any Premier team or anyone eles. Being at the Butts is a great experience, very different from a football match and I think that all that Norman is saying is give it a go as not City game.

No, I get that, which is fair enough. It's the "I imagine it was shit at CCFC" bit that rankles me. If you want to move on, then fine.

Ok, understand where you are coming from.
To me CCFC will always be my first choice, but if I get the chance my second option would be Coventry Rugby.

I think that most people who like the sport of Rugby would enjoy watching any good games, I have bought tickets for the Rugby World Cup next year and got some unusual games, not just England, such as Romania and Japan.

I never thought I'd not see the City at home either but SISU took the club to Northampton and they broke my addiction. They've returned the club but still spouting the same old shit and the team are hardly playing entertaining stuff. All that said I've done 5 City matches and 5 Cov Rugby this season.

There's no trick to it at all. I've witnessed first hand too many times this season the sheer dross on offer so I don't really know why you're trying to imply some sort of deception on my part. Tell me my imagination was running amok and yesterdays game was a compelling spectacle of exhibition football.

To summarise, it was a fantastic day yesterday, CCFC do not have a game next week so there's an opportunity for anyone at a loose end next Saturday to go down and support a home city team.

The OP should be on this forum,, WHY because it highlights that fans are now turning away from the club but not the city.. The football club is not offering anything in terms of excitement, entertainment or hope either on the field or off it, that should be alarm bells to those in control but yet they are keeping the same problems in place..

As for where this post has ended up,, its a bit like the club very predictable and a bit boring to watch!!!!!!!!!...

COMPLETELY AGREE!!! Had an imense day with my son and father in Law. So proud of the Cov lads. Went in the bar aftwewards and the players (yes the players) came and thanked us for our support. Atmoshphere was great and as a family we had a great day!!! Checked the score for the City game and knew I had made the right decision. I havent enjoyed a day out like that for years at a match and even if I did wake up with a hangover with a CRFC hat and scarf I have no recollections of buying it was definately the right decision

Sometimes I wonder if it's football as a whole though... or just the lower levels of sport are less corporate, less money oriented, so the experience is more laid-back and friendlier, more personal.

When I lived in London I used to love watching the local side; far more fun than our match day experience (even away from the matches! Still the only season i've seen live more wins than defeats!), and that was as much because I didn't get the sense people were trying to fleece me, more we were there for, well... fun.

And yes, the drinks and food were cheaper there, too, even though it was London!
