Bristol 4pts Cov 7pts...not enough!

I believe Bristol will gain another 4 points and City 7 ... not enough. To say nothing of our squad size and injury problems. Is there anybody out there who can offer a glimmer of hope about survival, cos my positive thinking is about to disappear!

Okay.

Should be able to get a point possibly at Burnley and hopefully 3 from each Donny and Millwall, so would agree, 7.

Bristol? Well 0 points against Brum and 0 points against West Ham. Probably 3 for them against Barnsley, so it it comes down to that last game against Burnely away and whether they can get anything there. Lose that and it will be only 3 points for them .... so there is your glimmer of hope!

Agree with above, but we cannot take results to west ham and brum, and our Doncaster millwall games for granted. There is still hope!

Well I hope you're right. I hate being pessimistic about it but injuries could play a big part. Hussey yesterday for starters.

We can't discount anything, which is why we can "think" or "believe" that this or that is going to happen. That is why I don't pay any attention to all these threads that list the remaining games and say Bristol will beat this team and lose against that team. No one can predict anything.

Don't forget we only need to equal their points tally to stay up.

I feel we could get something from the last game against southampton as long as they have already secured the championship by then if we haven't already been relegated.

IMO we will get battered at southampton they are just to good going forward if Bristol (who are shit)can score three what hope have we got at Southampton we should be playing 442 simple

We can only play a formation that's possible with the fit players we have

Millwall are still down there, and we have them to play. I am looking for a pompey win to keep the wall in touch. Still many twist and turns to go. Bristol are not safe yet, we have just made it harder for ourselves. can not see us getting anything from Burnley, think millwall and Donny are the main (only hope) 2 wins will certainly put a brighter spin on it all.

We should of played sheffers on the left (waste of space being at the tip of hoof ball)and norwood in the middle with clingan Deegan on the right giving more support to our overly exposed fullbacks especially for such an important game

My guess would be that he feels McSheffrey offers no support to his full-back when playing wide, therefore leaving a player carrying an injury exposed. That would certainly be one of my concerns

The 4-4-2 I would be interested in seeing - subject to injuries - might be Nimely and Christie wide, with Norwood and Clingan in the central berths; Norwood sitting the more advanced

Yep and that's the same hand I use without fingers when I'm trying to find Denise Welch's G Spot.

Bristol City- Birmingham ( Away)
West Ham ( Home)
Barnsley ( Home)
Burnley (away)

Us- Burnley ( away)
Millwall ( home)
Donny ( home)
Southampton (away)

If Brum and west ham( who's away form is brilliant.) Can beat Bristol and we can pick up a point against Burnley and win our home games not needing to go to Southampton and get something to stay up. Then Maybe the great escape could be on. PUSB!!

I've got a gut feeling this will go to the last minute of the final game. This is how I see it panning out

Sat 14th - Bristol 0 pts Cov 1pt - Bham too good for Bristol. Cov a hard earned point
Tues 17th - 1pt each - Bristol earn a point against draw specialists West Ham, Coventry slip up at home v Milwall who have great away form post Christmas
Sat 21st - 3pts each - Bristol defeat hapless Barnsley and Cov overcome already relegated Doncaster
Sat 28th - Bristol 0 pts Cov 3pts - Bristol take an early lead at Burnley, but Burnley can reach the playoffs with a victory and their motivation increases as Cardiff concede an equaliser at Palace. Burnley score 2 goals in the last 10 minutes. Meanwhile in a tense game at Southampton there are no goals with 10 minutes to go, when it comes through that Reading have slipped 2 nil behind at Blues, meaning Southampton are confirmed as champions. In a freakish set of circumstances Portsmouth are winning and will stay up on goal difference providing Cov only draw. Knowing that they are champions, Southampton lose their will and Saints fans urge their team to concede in order to relagate Pompey. This happens in injury time and Cov miraculously stay up on goal difference. Then I woke up !!

We need Pompey to win tonight. We need them to still be in with a glimemr at teh end of the season so that saints want us to beat them and send Pompey down :)

The key, as I said before, is us picking something up against Burnley. A draw would be good but that will put a lot more pressure on the Millwall gamse than if we were to bag all 3 points up there.

Pompey have to win tonight.

Can't see us getting more than 7 points, therefore we need Bristol to get no more than 4 points, or Millwall to get no more than 1 (Due to their better GD)

Agree, even if we win the two home games but lose both the away ones we will go down.

Understand that stance, but I really do not want Pompey to win tonight. A win and they will be just two points behind us and I would be very worried then that they could well overtake us and we would then need to catch both Millwall and Bristol.

Suppose your right, the only problem is I think Millwall are already too far ahead for us to catch.

Personally I think a draw would be good. Pompey need to win. They have to win really.

They are 9 points from saftey and 5 points behind us. A draw and they would still be 8 adrift and pretty much out of it with just 4 games to play. The draw would leave Millwall on 5 ahead. Course if we beat them then on Tuesday that could then be down to 2 points and just 1 win.

Millwall have Leshtur on Saturday who have suddenly gone on a very good run.

Don't forget Pompey play Donny on Saturday which seen as Donny are now more or less down has to look like a Pompey win. Its getting so confusing I don't know who I want to win what!

Well that's what's bothering me. Pompey win tonight + a win for them on Saturday and then even if we drew with Burnley (considered surely to be a good result) they would be above us!!

Pompey win tonight and the table will look like this

Millwall 44
Bristol 43
CITY 39
Pompey 37
Donny 32

Pompey then win on Saturday and we draw then the table will look like this (presuming Bristol lose and Millwall lose)

Millwall 44
Bristol 43
Pompey 40 (much better goal difference)
CITY 40
Donny 32

A Pompey win tonight won't look so good then would it!!

If that does happen, we will go into the final game 4th from bottom.....and that would be a huge pyschological boost ahead of the last game.

I'd take that position now......
